Off the wall thought here. Maybe it's been brought up before. Do you guys think can donations could make a nice chunk for NIL? Have can donation spots at tailgate lots and other places around Ames/ Iowa? Only 5 cents a pop, but I've seen the amount of beer we can put down on a Saturday..

Generally homeless or other people are usually picking these up already.

That's a good point. I know a lot of people that will trash them or pack them with to be thrown away. With that, do you think having can donation bins for whatever reason, even the homeless or other people to pick up, would encourage cans from just being thrown away, never to be redeemed?

Come to ISU where you get paid in can redemption money. That will go over well…
Who cares where the money is coming from? Rephrase as, come to ISU where cans get recycled by dedicated fans to pay for my education and opportunity to pursue my dreams.. sounds a bit different to me

Not sure. The ones I know will separate the cans and the rest.

You're probably only talking about $5-10k total, that's if you picked up every single can consumed on a given game day.

Even worse. We’d get laughed out of the B12 and P5.

Maybe if some 5 year old wanted to do this and donate the money to their favorite player.. okay.

But a fan base as a whole… It’d be embarrassing.

True.. but what about having a few in campustown? A lot of college parties that the cans just get tossed. I know that I would have put all my cans in there as a student instead of bringing a single case back for a $1.20

I guess I'm missing the point on why it would be embarrassing? Our fanbase is known for our busch light consumption.. let's put it to use!

Our answer to West Texas oil money is Busch Light can redemption at $0.05 a pop. Perhaps we should drive them to Michigan while gas prices are near record highs as well?

I don’t know how to phrase it politely.. so I’m going to leave this alone.

Back to the drawing board!

Now if @brentblum and crew want to pull up at every tailgate and ask for a donation - that would be acceptable and encouraged in my opinion.

Iowa is the only state in the B12 that has Can redemption. And there is only a handful of other states in the country that does especially with a P5 school.

As much as I hate it anymore, (wish they would just get rid of it, and put them in recycling) it does work well for fund raising.

Not sure its a great Idea, but saying it would be embarrassing, nah, most outside of Iowa dont even know what can redemption is.

They laugh about how much we have been promoting a bridge.. they’d laugh at this as well.

Embarrassing.
