I live down here, but have only been once (they fly over my house all the time). A couple things to know: they won't go up if there's any kind of wind, so you would want to watch that before going down. Also, I've heard the night glow is one of the things people like best. I think that happens toward the end, but I could be wrong.I’ve never been to the hot air balloon festival in Indianola. We have kids and I’m wondering if there is any general advice that those in the know could give about what days/nights to bring kids to this? Other tips?
Take them to the night glow on Sunday or Wednesday. It's a cool set up. They get to see the balloons a little more up close, and there should be lots of cool activities set up at the balloon grounds.I’ve never been to the hot air balloon festival in Indianola. Usually has to be less than 10 mph for most of them to go.I live down here, but have only been once (they fly over my house all the time). Not sure how kids could possibly deal with that lolWhy in the world is that age restricted?
Many of the balloon teams also have "trading cards" with their balloons on them that they give out too.Awesome event, especially for kids. I'd echo what others have said about going a Night Glow night, although those are usually more crowded.
My "pro tip" is to go in the morning if you can roll the kids out of bed. It's free to get in, less crowded and usually less wind. The morning flights are beautiful to watch.
For my kids, they often have more fun "chasing" balloons out on county roads above going to the field. It's fun to try and find where they are headed, so long as you stay out of the actual chasers way. On more than one occasion the balloon teams have been very friendly and have asked the kids to help with some of the tasks.
