We're not much above them in that category, according to this chart...Good ole academics weighing down Bama. I mean, priorities down there, right?

The academics part is always weird to me. Is it just based on grades? Research money? Professors? We're not much above them in that category, according to this chart...

To be fair I don't see how academics matters at all in today's college football world. Would actually like to see the list with that metric dropped.
Football ranking: This is a five-year average of the Sagarin ratings from 2017 to ’21, using only the current and future Power 5 schoolsI would guess a lot of people would disagree with ISU football rank at 15 vs Nebby at 45 and BYU at 50.
I think the other sports ranks are goofy too.
But we are above them, so they're stupid
Interesting. I think there will be some re-shuffling over the next 10-15 years as some SEC and Big Ten programs become perennial losers or mediocre (Look how far Miami has already fallen) since someone has to loose those games. There is opportunity for a couple PAC12 and Big 12 programs to move up if they can win games and become a "powerhouse" in those conferences.
11 spots higher than Iowa and we've managed to lose 6 straight?Football ranking: This is a five-year average of the Sagarin ratings from 2017 to ’21, using only the current and future Power 5 schools
Disagree with what they used if you want, but it's not like they're just eyeballing it
Yeh, for anyone over 50 it's a surprise, but this is the new ISU.I would guess a lot of people would disagree with ISU football rank at 15 vs Nebby at 45 and BYU at 50.

Also, I'm curious why they took the 5 year average of category except the Director's Cup standings. Not sure how much that would change, it just seems odd to have that inconsistency.
Agree, but we've only contended once.I'll take that over the opposite though.
I'll take a loss every year against Iowa if it means we're contending for big 12 championships.
