Not pertinent to your post, but are you getting financial aid thru the state/ DNR? Just wondering. I support you either way.

Pheasants forever will provide some corn and other food that would work for deer.

In NC Iowa, I have seen more deer than usual at this time of year. Heard of a lot of accidents with them also.

Had a doe and two fawns cross in front of me this weekend on Hwy 9. About half way between Thompson and Buffalo Center.. Must be a bumper crop of deer coming

Many does are having twins and some are having triples

Named the triplets that come through the timber - Fern, Fawn and Flora

Tractorhouse.com will be a good place to search for your tractor. Deere 2140, 2150, 2155 would be affordable models that would fit what you are looking for. A 3010 or 3020 would be bigger than that but would also probably be easier to find.

What are you planning to plant? Reason I ask is just making sure you truly want a drill instead of a planter. Planter will be able to plant corn, soybeans, sorghum for you where a drill will be better for small grains. If you google 2 row food plot planter there are a few places out there that cut down larger planters and refurbish them for food plot use.

They anticipate a shortage of white oak for barrels.
Interesting. I just started researching. White oaks will drop acorns within 10 years, which I understand the deer prefer over other oaks. Also, long term timber value for future generations is expected to be high.
