ISU was 4th in the nation in attendance last year. Of course we had Iowa at home, but also had a couple of really crappy teams. Pretty good. Hope we can grow on that next year.

I don’t know if that’s impressive or sad for attendance across the board given how horrendous the home slate was last year (outside of TOE like you noted).

These last three seasons, not counting 2020-21 season, have been the highest for ISU in a decade. Here's the average attendance figures since they started keeping track:

2001-024,250
2002-031,458
2003-042,343
2004-051,946
2005-062,069
2006-072,453
2007-084,311
2008-093,016
2009-104,541
2010-112,390
2011-123,087
2012-132,455
2013-143,255
2014-152,369
2015-162,545
2016-173,280
2017-183,361
2018-193,570
2019-204,795
2021-223,962

Does anyone have figures about what attendance was back in the 1970s when wrestling was at or close to its best at ISU? Hilton was new and people really supported wrestling then. Seems to me that lots of meets had around 12-14k back then. And I think wrestling had bigger crowds than MBB did.

Kinda surprised how crappy the draws are at some of those BIG schools.

It's way "over-remembered."

16 duals total over 10,000, and 12 of those were pre-1990.
