Way Too Early Cyclone 2023 Draft Prospects

I found this list (below) that at least had Will McDonald on it at #44, so I thought I’d make my own of the ‘22 seniors who might have a shot at the NFL a year from now.

Not going to take a WAG at possible early entry underclassmen.

Will McDonald
*Top three rounds—especially if he can put on another ten or fifteen pounds.

Xavier Hutchinson
Middle rounds

Trevor Downing
Middle rounds?

O’Rien Vance
Drafted if he stays healthy

Anthony Johnson
Middle rounds with a big season.

Colby Reeder
Has to adjust to P5

Gerry Vaughn
Possible UFA?

Isaiah Lee
Ditto

Darren Wilson
I want to see what he looks like fully healthy.

Anyone I missed?

I don’t see Vance getting drafted. But a good UFA for sure. Downing and Johnson maybe? But pretty borderline at this point. They’ll need an Enyi type of jump their senior seasons.

I do think Reeder is a sleeper, though age may be a big issue (he’ll be 26 in 2023!!)

X and Will I see getting drafted for sure.

I don’t think the sacks will matter. He’s already proven that, plus we just saw a guy who didn’t produce much at all in that regard go number 1 overall in the draft.

It’s gonna be all about how he looks this year in run defense. If he becomes good in that facet, along with adding a little weight (doesn’t need 20, 10 would do.) then he’s a 1st rounder.

If Will McD can get 5 sacks, he is the Big 12 ALL TIME sack king.

He'll be in the conversation for first round. I don't care at all if he is ten pounds too light. He wrecks game plans.

Hutch with a monster year can be 3rd round I think, but his window is 3rd to 7th round.

Downing if healthy can work into getting drafted. He needs to put it together more though. Anthony Johnson can be a draft pick but he needs to dominate more. Orien Vance is interesting b/c he's huge and has NFL size, he's intriguing for sure to me.

The problem is is he quick enough? He’s a little too big compared to most of the ball LB’s in today’s age.
 
Run game doesn’t matter as much. Look at how many receivers versus RBs went round 1 It’s a passing league.

Is GV old enough to go? He will be here next year.
