I stumbled on this through Mike Rowe. He has a podcast talking about it titled "The Maddest March". I haven't listened yet but it sounds interesting.

So now it appears that there is serious question whether Dr. James Naismith actually invented basketball or borrowed the idea from a 19 year old in Herkimer, NY.
That would be appropriate if the KU court is named after someone who cheated his way into history.
