Riot/Brawl in Mexican Soccer Game

I went back and forth on starting this thread, but figured I should since there are enough soccer fans here at CF.

As if the world wasn’t already messed up enough as is, there was a huge brawl between the opposing fans this Saturday in a match between Querétaro and Atlas (Mexican league). Official reports are saying 20 something people injured and a handful in critical condition. On social media there are rumors of double digit deaths as a result of this atrocity. After watching some of the videos, I’d be surprised if there are no casualties.

Hope the Mexican federation and FIFA give out some serious punishment to the clubs, especially the home team. Needless to say, but also hope the local authorities arrest as many of the people involved as possible.

As far as I heard. Nothing. Jus hatred for another human being that might not cheer for your team.

I grew up in Brazil and the 90s were awful with lots of stadium fights and fights around the stadiums. The best guess I have is that in some places soccer is literally the only thing that might bring you happiness and makes you forget the grind of day to day life. This creates a fanatical mindset that is not healthy.

Heard on espn today, that years ago English teams were not allowed to compete in European competitions for like 5 years due to an incident. I’ll search the details later.
