Unfortunately, the Gophers have a pretty good QB too. Honestly, it's their first pretty good QB in over 30 years.

I can truly understand why he would leave. Their QB, Martinez, overthrew Spielman so often. He would be open a couple steps but the ball would land 5 yards beyond him. Why not go somewhere with a QB who can actually pass?

Well according to some Iowa fans on here, Martinez is a better QB than Purdy.

He’s already redshirted and has only one year of eligibility left, and he hasn’t graduated. So he needs a waiver to play at all. If he earns a waiver it will probably be for 2020.

I can't imagine we need a receiver for 2020. We have Tarique Milton (Jr.), Sean Shaw (So.), Joe Scates (So.), Xavier Hutchinson (Jr.), Darien Porter (Fr.), Darren Wilson (Jr.), and Landon Akers (Sr.). Breece Hall, Johnnie Lang and Jirehl Brock are going to catch some passes. Then you have Charlie Kolar and Chase Allen. I know Spielman is pretty good, but I doubt he wants to go somewhere that already has the depth that we have.

That said, we all know that CMC really likes those senior leaders on the team, so who knows. Pettway really helped us out a lot last year.
