I am starting to think you are Wintersteen's alt on here.
You post here like Henry V and Paul Muad'Dib did walking in disguise to take the pulse of the common folk around the campfire and on the street, respectively.
Are you asking if the hookers and pimps have left the streets? I'm the wrong one to ask about that. Although it may give me a good excuse, can tell the wife that it's research.

It will be interesting to see how the theater industry returns, and if it's changed at all. Theaters are effectively a middle man that is sort of antiquated in many regards. I don't think they're going away by any means, but streaming is definitely a legitimate alternate way to get a film out to an audience, and social distancing has shown that.
CW's podcast with Ray Cole touched on this. Ray's comment was that a few movies have gone straight to streaming, with relative success and it can be hard to put that genie back in the bottle.
Maybe just me but I don’t at all understand this thought process. Maybe I am just coming from the perspective of not going to movies very often but I view streaming a movie significantly different than going to a movie theater.

I'm looking forward to the return of Drive-In theaters. Such fun. Sad to see they have become a part of history, but maybe this is the boost they need.
When I was in college 100 years ago, there was a drive-in theater in west Ames. I remember my buddies and I parked the car across Lincoln Way and walked through the lot and into the concession stand and bought some snacks. We were walking back through the lot when I think they figured it out, so we hurried back to the car.
I hope it doesn't kill movie theaters but it might. I know everyone is looking at Trolls 2 sales but those were some rare circumstances. If they do switch to streaming I don't think that $20 price point is going to hold up for very long. I think most people will just wait it out for all but a few event type movies like Marvel or Star Wars movies.

With everything in the economy slowing down, i imagine it delayed it.
However, i think Pollard recognized a true opportunity with this commercial district. There really isnt much great open space for commercial development in Ames outside of somewhere on the fringes, and this chunk of land at the ISC is a great opportunity

I lived for awhile in that neighborhood. We just brought the coolers and lawn chairs thru the back fence and enjoyed ourselves.

For some things, sure. Avengers Endgame, for example. Very, very worth it to go to a nice theater to see. I don't think that's going away. There will still be an audience for that. But outside of blockbusters, I'm not sure that the theater experience means as much, at least not to everyone. It's basically the only way to see most new releases though. That might change a bit
