It looks like my June fishing trip to Canada is not going to happen, so I am looking for another option not so far away. It is supposed to be a good fishing lake, but just wondering if anyone has any personal experiences there.

Its a good large mouth bass lake. DNR site says walleye but i haven't tried for them. I've gone once, but a friend fishes there quite a bit.

It has bass, crappie, walleye, and catfish. Bass fishing is usually good, crappie fishing is starting to pick up as it warms.

I've never fished it, but I believe Gordon Lightfoot wrote a song about it. Also, a wooden, Civil War era ship sunk there and lies on the bottom.

It's a great lake for bass and crappie. There is tons of standing and submerged dead timber. It's easy to hit submerged trees and stumps and occasionally get your boat hung up. If you have a jon boat, no worries, if you have a nice fiberglass boat use caution or expect some scuffs and scratches.
