The defensive wrinkle Clemson learned from Iowa State that could decide the national title

Wish our defense was more effective at slowing down the likes of Kansas State & Notre Dame. Teams started to figure us out last season and were picking up the delayed MLB blitz or instructing mobile quarterbacks to anticipate it. It doesn't matter how many DBs you drop into coverage if the quarterback is allowed to enjoy a hotdog while sitting in the pocket- someone's gonna get open.

Its like when you grill a steak its gonna be good if you follow the same recipe. However if your cut of meat is choice vs prime, that prime cut is just gonna be a better most likely

Same thing here, Clemson can follow the recipe, and have better result

Clemson didn’t fully use our defense. Normally we will run a press corner and a cloud corner. They basically had both corners in shadow coverage. We will blitz the backers from their normal positions whereas Clemson had theirs on the line for the most part. Made the defense more predictable.

So if LSU puts up 40+ on them.... what does that say about our defensive scheme??

It says that when you're left man to man and face guarding NFL receivers, you'll get beat. Not sure what the Clemson safeties were doing half the time.

Clemson actually a lot played a 3-1-7 in the game (sometimes a 3-2-6). But the bigger point is LSU identified the weak link, the cornerback guarding Chase, and continually went after him.
