I heard this on the radio this morning in KC they were going over their top 5 memories of the last decade for Chiefs and Royals I thought it would be good for ISU football and basketball.

Football
5. Beating Texas this year. Only because ISU always looses that type of game and to win on a last second field goal like that was the only time I can remember.
4. Getting to the Alamo bowl and the crowd that went down there. I know it wasn't a win but it is the biggest bowl ISU has been to and I was just so impressed with how the fans traveled.
3. Beating OSU in OT.
2. Beating OU in Norman.
1. Hiring Matt Campbell and changing the culture of ISU football

Basketball
5. Playing in the Maui tournament and having a great showing of ISU fans making that tournament shows ISU has made it back to the national stage. Also big for me since I got to go to Maui for the tournament.
4. The win over West Virginia in the Big 12 tournament to win it Monte's senior year finally beating them after struggling to beat them.
3. The win in Lawrence on Jackson's shot.
2. The run in 2015 to win the Big 12 tournament being down big in every game by a large margin and coming back to win
1. Beating UNC to go to the sweet sixteen - just the effort to grid out a win after Niang goes down

What are other people top moments or memories?

Off the top of my head (no order) of moments that revolve around ISU sports --

(1.) The Pinstripe Bowl in New York. Yes, I know, we lost a lame game, but that was my then girlfriend and now wife's first Iowa State game. I found out later that was the night my brother and his now wife started dating, too, which is neat. I was living in Massachusetts at the time, so I like it when the team follows me around for easy attendance.

(2.) The Oklahoma game in Norman -- everything seems to be falling apart, our QB just got kicked off the team, Oklahoma is about a million point favorite and... we come out there and play better than them and win. I wondered if I would ever see a win in Norman in my lifetime, and now we have one (and a close miss two years later).

(3.) "The shot" -- taking down KU in Lawrence for the first time in forever --

(4.) Not a huge game in the end, but this moment...

(5.) This is more of a bittersweet moment, but I was at the Sweet Sixteen game against UVA in Chicago. It was a time of transition for myself in life, too. I was about to marry that girlfriend mentioned earlier, move, take a new job, and leave for Europe for a month to come back to basically everything about my life being different.

The moment I remember most from that game was the end --

Prohm called a timeout with about 2:00 left and threw in the towel. He gave each of the seniors a curtain call before they went to the bench and called it a career.

I doubt there was a dry eye in the house when Georges came out. I do not know if anybody has ever embodied the spirit of the program and the university more than he has. Nobody has that I can remember within my living memory, at least.

That really hit home for me that it was the end of an era. Monté, Naz, Matt, and Deonte's speeches on senior night the next year felt a similar way. Each of those guys had such interesting stories and personalities that brought them to that moment, and they were all great players going out together, so it had a similar feeling to say goodbye to them. I bemoan the Purdue loss more than I do UAB, UConn, and Ohio State.

That team should have went very deep into March.

I know some of mine above mixed the personal with sporting, but I think that is the point of all this for me. Sports provide meaning and identity to our lives. They held me establish a timeline in my memory -- what was I doing in life when, for instance, we won our bowl game against Memphis? I was in Duluth for my cousin's wedding. Those little landmarks and bits of symbolic meaning are what make this interesting to me.

5. The 2018 WVU game. It was as fun of game experience as I can remember. Great weather, great play, fun atmosphere. It was the point where you really felt we turned a corner, putting a beat down on a Top 6 team.

4. The 2015 Iowa comeback in basketball. We dug such a hole in such a big game and it was Hilton Magic at its finest.

3. The 2015 Big 12 tournament run. All 3 close games with two being big comebacks. Monte's game winner against Texas. Such a fun 3 days.

2. Kane's game winner against UNC in 2014, although this game will always invoke feelings of what could have been.

1. OSU in 2011. What an awesome experience to be at that game. Went in to with zero expectations. So many ups and downs. Just an awesome win on a big stage.
