They have some nice things to say about us. Hadn't heard this from other sources. Technically, it's sold out on the "initial market" but there are tickets available on the secondary market.

I like this statement: "So there you go, for the first time since Notre Dame played Florida State in the then-Champs Sports Bowl and for now just the second time ever, the Camping World Bowl has sold out."

Nice article. Gives us lots of credit.

Not sure about the "sold out" part. There are still plenty of blue dots on the CWB Ticketmaster site. And they have sold only a small portion of the upper deck.
I agree. The article mentions the "initial market" is sold out, so there will still be tickets available on the secondary market. But still great PR for the Cyclones.

Don't doubt it will be a good crowd but you can go to Ticketmaster site right now and purchase tickets in Upper Deck and few other spots. It's not a sell out.

That article was written with a Notre Dame POV. Most likely the school allotment has been sold out so they are calling it a sell out to feed their inflated egos.

Not sure about that, but I did notice in an article on one of their sites that they like claiming sole credit for setting attendance records at bowls.
And if it turns out the crowd is larger for their opponent, ND fans probably claim it's because of the honor of playing Notre Dame.

I would say a person would be pretty naive to think it doesn't play a part, just not as big a part as some people would like to think.
As far as the Iowa State fan base goes, it has little to no effect on the turnout.

Cyclone fans would travel well anywhere but it defintely helps playing a team woth notoriety.

Any crowd would be smaller had we drawn say, Cincinnati

I also noted this curious line in the article. "Also congratulations to the Notre Dame athletic department as it has now sold out more consecutive bowl games than it has home football games."

Since I know nothing about ND's consecutive home game vs bowl game sell outs, I must assume that they haven't sold out their own stadium in a while?

Oh god... give me a break.

The CWB does not sell tickets to the upper bowl until the lower bowl sells out. It took the sell out to open up the upper bowl.

So a little research tells me that when they added the upper decks they added 18,000 seats. And when the lower bowl was renovated they ended up with 41,000 seats - all with seat backs. Doesn't quite add up to the stated capacity, but it is close.

So that must mean that a lower bowl "sellout" plus people starting to fill the upper decks must put the anticipated attendance at somewhere around 45,000. Does that sound about right?
