Heard this one on the radio yesterday. Cliff notes version:

- Excessive use of an air freshener inside car.
- Driver lights a cigarette without ventilating interior first.
- Car explodes blowing out windows of car, buckling doors, and damaging windows of nearby businesses.
- The driver climbs out of car with no apparent injuries!

After reading the article now. I do kind of feel for the kid. On the bright side, I bet he never smokes again.

I once had a pop can explode inside my car back in high school during wintertime. That was almost enough to startle the piss out of me, I can't imagine what had to be running through their mind in the moments following the explosion trying to piece together what was happening!

Who sprays excessive air freshener and THEN lights a cigarette?

How did he escape with no injuries? Lucky, lucky dude.

It was also genius how they presented the story on the radio as I listened. After hearing the part about windows of nearby businesses being damaged, I fully expected the final line to be about how he had died from the injuries or in critical condition at a minimum.

Nope, he just climbed out and doesn't appear to have any injuries. Here's a shot of the car for those that didn't check out the story link:

There is no way this much damage occurred from an aerosol can and then lighting a lighter.

You don't think there were other "explosive gases" in the car that created the need for excessive air freshener?

I don't know about explosive gases but my guess is he was smoking the devil's lettuce, sprayed air freshener to cover the smell, then lit a cigarette.
