Apparently you can't re-sell Krispy Kremes

Saw this article online. A person in Minnesota is buying carloads of Krispy Kreme doughnuts and re-selling them in Minnesota for a higher price to help pay for student loans. People are willing to pay more since there is no more Krispy Kreme locations in Minnesota. Krispy Kreame apparently called him and said he can't do it any more. I guess I don't know how they could limit this. I don't see anything illegal about this, especially since there is no stores in Minnesota and he is not getting a discount from the Iowa stores.

Yeah that Krispy Kreme store thing up here was really strange. They opened a few stores and there was a perpetual line in their drive-throughs. I don't know if people got sick of them but suddenly they were closing them all. They couldn't have been open for more than a few years.

Unless the store is forcing him to sign an acceptable use contract every time he purchases them, he should tell them to stick it. He purchased said product and as long as he isn't claiming to be officially affiliated with Krispy Kreme, then he can do what he wants. That said, I'm sure he is flagged like people who pass bad checks and won't get service any where.

I would do the same thing as a kid when my family would have garage sales. Go buy a few dozen, as people walk through the garage sale, they buy one for a buck. Easy money.

The same thing happened here in Arlington...when the Krispy Kreme store first opened a few years ago, the police had to come and direct traffic because the lines were disrupting traffic on a major thoroughfare. Now, their parking lot is like a ghost town. I'm surprised the place is still open. KK was also selling donuts in Albertson's but they are gone from there now too.

Then again, every strip mall seems to have donut shop, so I guess there is demand. I don't eat many donuts, but I from what I've tasted of Krispy Kreme, they've got nothing over the strip mall donuts.

I am more upset with the fact that Nintendo is somehow not allowing first party games to be resold on Amazon.

They seem like similar situations. Scalping is not illegal is it? I mean StubHub exists.

That would only apply if he was selling them as an official employee of KK. Otherwise, there is no basis, because they were physically sold to the consumer in Iowa.

And he paid all applicable sales tax in Iowa. If Minnesota goes after anyone for sales tax it would be the reseller, not KK.

The doughnut mule is back in business. Krispy Kreme has now said they will work with Gonzalez as an independent operator. I think he has a go fund me set up to purchase a larger vehicle.
