89 Cent 20 team Parlay...$500k sunk by washington

Headline should read. 20 team Parlay bet sunk by betting 20 teams.

One ticket came close to hitting the jackpot but still wins nothing.

I've got a $5 3-game parlay to win $30 tonight for some baseball games. If I win the first two, I'll be on the edge of my seat. I can't imagine what that guy was going through all day yesterday.

I didn't look at the individual bets to see if he was laying points or adjusting the odds in any way, but the odds of hitting a 20 team parlay against the spread is just over a million to one. Hitting the 19 he did is half that.

Once you've hit 19 in a row, it's probably time to collect some cash with a hedge...but then again, it's only one bet left, right? 50/50 shot!

I love reading about stuff like this. Winners and losers. Prefer the winners.

Buddy of mine at ISU would play 10 game parlays on NBA games. He routinely got 8 or 9 out of 10. Never seen anyone so good at sports betting. He'd get up 20k in a semester and then lose it all at the casino on blackjack. After a while we would guard him from going to the casinos.

If your betting 20 team 89 cent parlays I'm guessing he's was a little short of the quarter mill.

I was wondering about this. He doesn't have to bet half - he could have just done $50k or whatever so he guarantees he walks away with something. But the more interesting angle - if the casino isn't interested in extending a line of credit to allow you to hedge, what do you do?

How does one come up with $100k+ cash in 12 hours when the situation presents itself?

You sell the parlay ticket to a sucker (maybe even the casino?) for $100k.

I'm not sure what the casino would do - eat the $250k or roll the dice on the big one? Would another casino offer you the line of credit if you gave them the ticket?

What I'm most curious about, which has little to do with the actual wager, is how do you come up with a massive chunk of cash in 12 hours? Having $250k is one thing, having it available in cash or a liquid form of payment is another. I can think of a single person I know that might be able to pull it off, and I don't know what I'd have to give him in return to do it. But I'm going to ask him next time I see him. You know, when I have 19 of 20 right on a parlay.

You gotta come up with however much cash as you can, up to 250k, to throw down on the Bears in that situation. HAVE to.

The patriots screwed up all my parlays this weekend. **** Bill Belichick for benching Brady for one series.

Keep in mind the Bears money line was something like -250 if I remember right. So even if he could have scrapped together $50,000, he "only" wins $20,000.
Betting half, $250K, he would have won $100K.

Your point still stands though, how would someone come up with a $100K on short notice?
Could you talk a bank into an overnight loan?
