One of the things that has driven me crazy last year and the first game this year is our punt return team. We always rush and let all their defenders run down unblocked. We basically surrender to a fair catch.

In close games field position is so critical and we have a couple solid returners in Jones and Milton. Let them use their skills!

The thing is we only rush 4 or 5. The other 4 or 5 act like they're blocking to set up a return but stop after about 20 yards. I've never seen anything like that.

There were several returnable punts today. I swear the coaching staff was in full safety mode today and told them basically fair catch everything.

When was the last time we blocked a punt? Seems a Jones or Milton return would provide more "return" over the course of a season even if there was one or two blocks.

This is something I complained about a lot last year and was hoping it would change this year.

Since we are talking special teams...

Can we find a kickoff specialist? Paddock was awful and doesn't seem to have a very strong leg. Narveson is on scholarship, and has been beaten out by TWO walk-ons.
