Friday’s approval by the Justice Department and five state attorneys general comes after Sprint and T-Mobile agreed to conditions that would set up satellite-TV provider Dish as a fourth wireless company, so the number of major U.S. providers remains at four.

Dish is buying Sprint’s prepaid cellphone brands including Boost and Virgin Mobile — some 9 million customers — and some spectrum, or airwaves for wireless service, from the two companies for $5 billion. It will also be able to rent T-Mobile’s network for seven years while it builds its own. The Justice Department’s antitrust chief, Makan Delrahim, said the settlement sets up Dish “as a disruptive force in wireless.”

I remember the Verizon commercials, so I found the first Sprint commercial funny.

But I agree, they've run their course now.
I found the numerical gymnastics in the very first one offensive so I didn't like them from the start. He talked about how Sprint's network was 99% as reliable as Verizon's or something like that. When you look at their coverage maps the part where Sprint was lacking at the time was rural America. Sure there aren't nearly as many users in those areas - hence the small difference in the reliability - but as someone who lives and travels through the rural part of the country a lot, I thought that was a significant deception being advertised in rural America.

Sprint does roam on Verizon still, right? Not sure if that's what they mean

So are all Sprint stores going to be converted to look like an adult bookstore?
