So, my bunch of friends were chatting on Facebook and we had a interesting discussion as to who would fare better should Coach Ferentz were to be at ISU at Coach Campbell were to be at Iowa?
The consensus ended up to be the talent levels at each school were not marketable different but the change of coaching win/ loss record could be.
The question begs to be asked.... Which Coach would have a better record after the switch?
Looking forward to hearing your perspective(s) and answers!

Iowa has historically had more talent. There's no sane argument against that.

I think these coaches are more alike than different. Campbell could be a hell of a recruiter at Iowa, and Ferentz's eye for line talent could work well at ISU. I think we'd get similar results to what we're seeing now. 7-9 wins most years.

I'm calling the grammar police on this one.

In the short term, I think Iowa would fare better with Campbell because he is able to adapt his coaching to fit the athletes he has. Meanwhile the type of football that Kirk wants to play does not match the type of football players that Iowa State has currently.

Agreed with this. Also, Big 10 West schedule vs Big 12 schedule matters, Campbell would win more in the Big 10 West than Ferentz does in the Big 12.

For an actual response, had Campbell been established at Iowa for the length of time that Ferentz has been, they would be in much better shape than us if we picked up Ferentz four years ago. Campbell would have the lines that he wanted and would have likely locked Iowa down in terms of recruiting. Iowa's offense would not be as vanilla as they are, and they would have a more dynamic quarterback. On the other hand, we'd likely have 2-3 less wins the past few years.

Fortunately, this scenario didn't happen and we got the right guy for ISU.
