MLB: David Ortiz shot in Dominican Republic

I saw some footage of the guy who shot him getting kicked. Was gonna post here but probably best for people to just find on their own.
There is also a security video showing Ortiz being shot. I won't link that, but not hard to find.
Definitely not a robbery if the video I saw was legit, guy just walked up on the sidewalk, shot Ortiz in a crowded bar/restaurant and ran.
Heard on the radio on my way home that he’s reported to be in stable condition like the tweet above said
Was not a robbery attempt. Dude just came down the street, pulled out a gun from 10-15 feet back and shot him. Pretty crowded restaurant.

As a general rule of thumb, it's probably not a good idea to provoke a drug lord...
On the flip side, Ortiz is a national hero down there, so going after him could end up being pretty ******* stupid (as you saw what the locals did to the shooter)
An unconfirmed report last night said this was a hit from a DR drug lord. Supposedly over a woman. One of many stories, I'm sure.
Agreed, if this is what happens to a local hero then I don't have much of a chance. I was there once and that was enough for me. Just doesn't feel right to be parting in a place like that when you see what you drove past to get to the resort. I know it's a major or the only source of income for them but still not my cup of tea.
Then you have the beatings and the people getting sick from insecticides. Pass.

Knew the Red Sox had flown him to Massachusetts (good on them) but didn't know he had a 2nd surgery. Also didn't know his buddy was also shoot.

Crazy stuff to thing he was targeted. Going to be interesting when they get to motive.
