That was pretty vanilla.
“I think (comfortability) will have a big thing to do with (the decision). All three schools meet certain criteria so that’s just going to be a big factor in where I decide to go to school.”
Sounds like he likes all three schools, but that quote sounded like it's TJ's and UNLV's to lose based off of the comfortability comment.
Hot take alert: Obviously it would be nice to get Wheeler or Grill but part of me almost wants to see what happens if we don’t and who we would then target. Hearing new names is always exciting and we would if we missed on all 3 HS targets. I’m only saying this because even though I liked all 3 spring HS targets, I don’t think any of them are the difference between NIT or NCAA Tournament. I think the biggest thing keeping me from wanting to miss out on these guys is that I want Prohm to be successful and the hate he would get if he missed all 3 would be crazy.
That’s a high bar you’re setting. A newcomer guard would need to be a first or second team All-Big 12 to singularly make the difference imo. And even that’s probably not enough if the returning guys do not significantly improve.Hot take alert: Obviously it would be nice to get Wheeler or Grill but part of me almost wants to see what happens if we don’t and who we would then target. A top-100 pg like Wheeler or a pg recruit coveted by guys like Huggins would definitely increases the odds of making the tournament. Grill seems a little more redundant with Nixon, but adding another asset increases the odds someone is a pleasant surprise, and could make a difference in 2020-21.
Agreed, taking anything away from these comments would be a bit of a stretch.Ehhh....it could be that when he talks about comfortable, he's talking about the atmosphere of the school. Iowa State, Kansas State, and SDSU are quite different than UNLV.
Assuming that the comment is about TJ is silly. We have no idea.
There aren’t any HS kids left to target who are at this level guard wise.. at least not that I’ve seen..
Think it’s KSU to lose..
On to plan C
Last year point per game averages and how I could see next year shaping up. (As of now)
Shayok 18.7
Wigginton 13.5
Horton-Tucker 11.8
Jacobson 11.1
Weiler-Babb 9.1
Haliburton 6.8
Lard 5.6
Who on the roster could replace those scoring numbers? Here’s my hope.
-Jacobson does what he did last year.
-Nixon averages around what THT did.
-Haliburton averages around what NWB did.
-Solomon and Conditt should be able to give you what Lard gave us last year. I think our 3 bigs last year and our 3 bigs this year should be able to repeat what they gave us last year.
-One of the freshman gives you 5/6 points per game like Haliburton was able to give. That could be Leech, Jackson or maybe a Wheeler/Grill/Anderson.
Now the issue I see is who replaces Shayok’s 18 and Wigginton’s 13.5? I don’t think we have anybody on roster or coming in that can give you that. Dream scenario would be you get Gilder and he replaces Wigginton’s 13.5 and then Wigginton comes back and he has a monster year and replaces Shayok’s 18.7
This is a tournament team I think.
Wigginton 18
Gilder 13
Nixon 11
Jacobson 11
Haliburton 9
Young 6
Conditt 5
Jackson/Leech 5
I understand that is not likely to happen but it’s the most realistic scenario that I can come up with in which Iowa State returns to the tournament.
