Who is Texas trying to steal from us?

If you checked the 2019 recruiting thread, you’d see that it’s Caleb Johnson.
Meh, we'd better get used to it. The words out, this staff is damn good. UT will always be happy to let us do the heavy lifting on the recruiting trail...same as everyone else...
Can only worry about the things you can control. Stay focused and true to yourself, be honest and the recruits will flock to you. Of course other schools are going to try and steal recruits I hope we are too.

A quick check, and I’d guess from the front page of CR showing a.forum thread title of “Texas offers ISU commit”, or something like that.
Saw on 247 Sports that Caleb Johnson is leaving Texas and will transfer to UCLA. Looks like we dodged a bullet on that one. Although who knows, our staff may have actually developed him into a better player. But not sure he would have beat out our linebackers either.
It’s kind of amazing how often it is that a kid that gets stolen from us by a bigger school ends up not working out for that bigger school.
Seems like every de-commitment we have in football or basketball ends up transferring. They spend many months to a year developing a relationship with Iowa State and their coaches, then on a whim decide to go somewhere else at the last minute. No wonder it doesn't work out for them.
Kam White recently entered the transfer portal from Ole Miss
We lost Devine Ozigbo but instead got David Montgomery.
Ernest Suttles got kicked off the team at Nebraska.
Now this linebacker Caleb Johnson.
Seems like we don't really miss the kids that don't come here. Not that some of them didn't pan out somewhere else, but with CMC we just keep on rolling. Seems like it used to be a much bigger deal when we lost out on a recruit compared to now.
At least I hope that is what he meant...

This staff is just getting really good kids, imo. Maybe that's the "secret" to their success, good kids...
I've always attributed this to the big school missing on the kid that best fits their system the settling for the best they can poach.
