I didn’t ask for or get approval from @Angie so it’s NOT a Friday OT thread.

I’ve been really jonesing for some creepy stories and haven’t been satisfied. Listened to a few different podcasts, watched some videos. Tried Reddit, but most of No Sleep is fiction and Let’s Not Meet is all creeper people, so it doesn’t offer a lot of variety. So I’m coming to CF. What’s something creepy you’ve experienced? Whether it’s supernatural, weird people, animal encounters, weather, whatever. Just something that you look back on and get chills.

My go-to is always “knock-knock.”

When my niece was about two or three she used to always talk about Knock-knock in her room. She’d always here knocking on her walls. Never the outside wall (they lived on the second floor anyway, and mostly on the wall by her bed and the one with her closet. It was always kind of creepy, but could probably be easily attributed to pipes in the wall.

One morning my mom and I got a call to come right over because they needed help. We get there and there’s just a trail of maggots, like, thousands of them, going from her closet door to the back door that goes to their patio. And that’s it. Literally like someone took buckets of them and poured a path directly from her closet to the door. None outside. And all she did as we cleaned and tried to get them all out of the carpet (holy **** that was awful) she just kept pointing at them and saying “knock-knock.”

Still have no idea what would have caused that, but two year old kids can be creepy as **** as it is and she wasn’t helping.

We hunt on an island in Lake Superior. (This is a family thing, it goes back about 73 years.) One year we stayed in my dad's pickup camper - there were only 3 of us - and we were parked at the end of a long lane. We were next to an old house that at one time housed the hunting gang, usually 15-18 guys or so. The outhouse still stood next to the house.

Anyway, I had to answer nature's call in the middle of the night. There was a fresh snowfall on the ground, and the moon was shining very brightly. I finished my business and came out of the privy door, only to see a large wolf with its front paws resting on the top step of the camper, peering inside.

I waited for several long minutes - hell, I wasn't going to attract attention to myself! -until the wolf finally decided it wasn't worth his/her time, and turned and trotted off into the woods.

I ran like hell, and locked the camper door behind me when I got inside. It still gives me chills to think about it.

My creepy story:

One time...

I was peacefully reading through CF...

and stumbled into the "Politics - Religion - Global Warming " forum...

creepiest place I have ever been on the internet.

;)

That's hilarious!
Pretty much consists of a handful of the same liberals trying to convince a couple conservatives the world is ending as we know it. Check back every once in a while in disbelief they still are chasing their tails

Still have no idea what would have caused that, but two year old kids can be creepy as **** as it is and she wasn’t helping.

Kids explaining their dreams/nightmares is always creepy to me. Mine isn't nearly as creepy as yours, but my 3yo woke us up in the middle of the night crying and calling for us. When I went in her room she was out of her bed, standing by the window. When I asked her what she was doing she said "Mr. Grinch is crawling into the window to take me away." Still creeps me out...

@cyrocksmypants - you have my hearty approval for this... just don’t be offended if I can’t read it, especially after your intro!

Mine falls into the supernatural category. I'm not much of a religious man but my grandparents were devout Catholics. Well my grandfather was near the end of his battle with cancer so I came home from school to spend time with the family. My mother stayed with her father at the end while my dad and I went back home to try and get some sleep. I woke up at 0305 with my grandfather standing over top of me. Not a word was said but I could see him clear as day. Then he was gone. I'm sitting in bed, HR pounding, kind of freaked out. Then I could hear my dad walking around the house (no big deal, we all have to pee in the middle of the night right!?). Well then I hear my dads phone ring. I already know what it is and start to get dressed. My mom was calling to let me know my grandfather just passed. As we are driving down to the house my dad and I were talking and he brings up this crazy dream he had. Around 0305 he said he was woken up by my grandfather standing over his bed telling him that he was dead. Still gives me the chills!

Similar thing happened when my grandmother passed a few years later. This time we were at her funeral. I could feel someone rubbing the back of my head. I swatted and looked behind me but there wasn't anyone there. That one was a little more comforting though as I remembered that with my short hair, my grandmother used to like to rub the back of my head. I like to think it was her way of saying goodbye so I let it continue.

I've told this story in another thread a while back but...my in-laws' house is haunted, supposedly by an old woman and a little girl. After visiting there for almost 30 years, I never encountered anything strange, though others have. Until about 6 months ago.

I was carrying our luggage up to the second floor bedroom. I stopped to turn on the hall light, and the hand I used happened to be encumbered by my wife's hair dryer in a bag. It clanged loudly off the wall. I said to myself that I hoped I didn't wake up any ghosts. As I moved toward the bedroom, I hear this noise start up. My first thought is that they had gotten some HVAC work done or something -- it almost sounded like a fan whirring, but pretty loud. Just as the noise stopped, I realized what it was. The sewing machine, running full bore. I threw the luggage in the bedroom and didn't run, but felt like it, to the stairs and down.

Later that night, we were getting ready for bed, and I was brushing my teeth in the upstairs bathroom. Suddenly the bathtub faucet turned on , then immediately shut back off. I slept with my hands under the covers, so no ghost could touch them in the middle of the night.

A friend of mine did hospice work for a while. Boy, did she have some stories about what people say right at the end. The best one was one guy who opened his eyes really wide as if he was looking at something, then said "Oh, ****!" and died. Makes me want to be a better person.

My attempt to explain this one away because it scares the **** out of me...

The knock-knock was an animal stuck in the walls trying to get out. The maggots were emerging from having eaten it and looking for more food.

My grand nephew (3 yrs old) was getting toweled off from his bath by my SIL, in my in-laws upstairs bathroom -- yes the same one. He says to her,"Moma, close the door." She asked him why. "I don't like that old lady looking at me."

I witnessed someone get accidentally hit in the head with a baseball bat. There wasn’t too much blood, but you could see his skull.
Also witnessed someone darm near cut a finger off

When we first moved to Iowa we lived in this really small town of about 200 people in SW Iowa when I was in K and 1st grade. One of my friends lived next to the town cemetery and I remember it being a really creepy place, and after we moved I often had nightmares about his house and the cemetery.

Move forward to High School I had just got my license and was telling some friends about this. The town was about half an hour away so one night we decided to drive over there pretty late just to see this crappy small town and how lame it is. We pulled up to the cemetery and probably went about 20 feet into the cemetery and we all got this sinking feeling. I was driving and freaking out and didn't want to be a ***** so I tried playing cool, but my friend in the backseat started screaming and the guy in the passenger street started screaming "go go go". I flipped the car around and we floored it out of there. It was probably 4 or 5 city blocks (2 or 3 for this town) back to the highway but I couldnt stop and we launched up and over the highway as an incline came up to the road.

It was freaky. I don't really believe in the supernatural or anything like that either. I think it's all in your head, or a misunderstanding of something. Although it's crazy that animals have a sense towards those types of things (storms coming, etc).

Good chance it was a bat, or a rat that was trapped. Quite often bats will knock on walls at night. Happened in the old farm house I lived in. You would see a bat and the knocking would disappear afterwards since it had gotten out. While working around livestock, when I have had to take something to the rendering shed, when they get picked up (when its very hot and been more than a day) the maggots will start to crawl away from the deadhut and try to get somewhere but usually end up dying on their path.

Just an oddity. I have been a passenger in an ambulance twice. Both times, about a month before, i had dreams about being in an ambulance and certain memories of those rides. Those segments I remembered, ended up coming true. Like where I was, the route taken (first was during an away HS football game so it wasn't a normal route) and a couple conversations between other people during the trips

This isn't creepy like this stuff, but it was odd.

Was in LA at a party with a lot of people who believed in spirits. Stuff like crystals and energy.

I like weird scenes so I was enjoying things. Was told that I should be a "healer" and my energy was centered.

There was a palm reader. I said, "Ok. I'll play". The palm reader said, "This isn't a game"

She took my hand and we closed our eyes. I felt a wave of energy. We both opened our eyes at the same time and looked at each other surprised.

She said, "When you cross over you will be very powerful"

I hope my enemies understand that. But it was a really odd and strange event.

r/creepypms is pretty creepy. NSFW.

I’ve been on both sides. When I was being creepy was awhile ago. I had a stalker in high school that would randomly hug me in the hallways. She would also show up to work to watch me once in awhile.

Probably only one other one I personally experienced.

I WANT to believe in supernatural stuff, but just don’t really have any evidence to give me a belief that it exists.

A quick layout of my house I grew up in, we had a breezeway you walked in to from outside, then you go through a door into like a little stairwell area where if you went straight and up the three little stairs you went through another door and into the house or you could go left and downstairs to the basement (a creepy old basement, not finished.) The door that went from the breezeway to the stairwell had an old timey bolt-like lock, but we never locked it because there was never a key to it when we moved in. We never really closed the door because it was an old weird lock, where if you twisted clockwise, it would remain unlocked, but if you twisted counterclockwise, it would open, but snap back locked when you released it, so we’d gotten accidentally lock out of the house a few times that way. Being nice in a smaller town anyway (I know mason city isn’t small to some people, but it’s really not big) and being in a less dense and more secluded part of town, we never locked our doors anyway.

Anyway, I was probably a freshman in high school. The family went camping and, because I was a freshman in high school, I obviously was just too cool for that, so I stayed home. I was in my bedroom, which is kind of diagonally across from the door that goes from the stairwell into the house playing PlayStation. Since everyone was gone and weren’t coming back for the night, I went ahead and locked that door that goes from the stairwell to the breezeway. Later that night, probably around 12, 1 am, I hear the lock click open and the door creak open. In my head I’m rationalizing “ok, maybe I just didn’t push it closed all of the way so a breeze or the house settling or something popped the door open. And then I hear the door close and the lock click back in to place again. I was ******* terrified. Couldn’t leave the bed. Just kept staring at my door waiting for the worst to happen. When I got up in the morning, the door was closed and locked.

Obviously, the worst never did happen. But I can only think of one of two reasons why the door would have unlocked, opened, closed and locked again. Ghosts, or some real life person hanging out in the basement.

Honestly, I don’t know which i think is a more terrifying thought.
