    Recruiting at ISU

Bill Snyder is a once in a lifetime caliber coach who may be one of the top 5 coaches to coach the college game. Without Snyder, KSU has one thirty something percent of their games and pretty much everyone expects KSU to revert to that level when Snyder is no longer the coach. KSU is an aberration.

    Recruiting at ISU

Yes, as the aesthetics of college campuses go, ISU is not bad. It's looks and atmosphere are certainly not any worse than average, as universities go. But does aesthetics enter in to a 3-5 star college recruit's decision when he is picking his college? I doubt it is a deciding factor. It matters...

    Cyclones 17-point dogs to Nebraska

How dare you call me a Husker fan!! That is a dirty, rotten, lowdown insult, Sir! Shall it be pistols at high noon! I demand satisfaction!!!! :) I am quite proud to live and work in Ames and on the University campus! I am only trying to bring some reason and sanity to this discussion. The...

    Cyclones 17-point dogs to Nebraska

I beg to differ that Texas "dominated" Nebraska. They only won by 7 points and only outgained them by 69 total yards (271-202). Nebraska had 10 penalties in that game for 94 yards and a turnover. Texas played a good game, but it seems to me more like Nebraska shot themselves in the foot more...

    Cyclones 17-point dogs to Nebraska

You know, you're right. I was in error. So, are you saying that stopping the vaunted KU rushing attack means the Clones will have a chance against Nebraska? Or beating a Texas team that also lost badly at home to a now 3-5 UCLA? What, besides Kool-ade, makes people think that the Nebraska game...

    Cyclones 17-point dogs to Nebraska

ISU gave up 2.8 yards rushing overall, which includes QB sacks, etc, but I specifically singled out Kansas' RBs. Angus Quigley averaged 4.9 ypc on 14 attempts. North Dakota State held him to 2.1 ypc.

    Cyclones 17-point dogs to Nebraska

Yeah, he did indeed have one great day, but he has had others. Roy Helu Jr. averaged 11 yards per carry (on 28 carries) against the #6 rated team in the land, but he has also averaged 11 ypc against Washington, 11.9 ypc against Idaho and 13.8 ypc against Kansas State. The Cyclones yielded...

    Early Predictions vs NEBRASKA

I believe he meant that ISU had trouble stopping Kansas' running game. Quigley and Sims averaged 4.05 yards per carry against ISU. Helu averaged ELEVEN yards per carry against Mizzou. What is he going to do to ISU? I'm guessing better than 4.05 ypc.

    Early Predictions vs NEBRASKA

At what point do we stop considering Texas "underachievers" and start considering them as simply not all that good of a team. They have lost three games in their own stadium. The Nebraska win is their only win that impresses at all, and there was a lot of emotion involved in that. UCLA beat them...

Some rough thoughts from my Gopher neighbor

More football is definitely a good thing. I would be 100% in favor of a 13th (or 14th) regular season game. But having THIRTY FIVE bowl games just simply waters down what it means to be in a bowl game. It's almost like the NCAA is giving out ribbons for participation, like kids in grade school...

    Jon Walters

Oh, yeah. Also, if you have a DVR, if the TV is running ahead of the radio, you can use the "pause" feature to slow down and sync up the tv with the radio. Another DVR miracle! Now someone needs to invent a DAR for the times when the radio is ahead of the TV!

    Jon Walters

I've been there. Here's the solution: Its a bit antisocial, but headphones work wonders! If possible, its often best if I watch the game by myself. Then I can do whatever the heck I like and there is no collateral damage from me throwing things and jumping and flailing around as well! :)

Some rough thoughts from my Gopher neighbor

I think the NCAA should change bowl eligibility to be that to qualify a team must be ABOVE .500, which would mean 7 wins. As much as that would hurt bowl chances, I don't believe in rewarding mediocrity. 6-6 is the definition of mediocrity. It is excellence that should be rewarded. There are WAY...
