Venues for a wedding/reception in the DM-Ames area
I once went to a reception that was on the roof of the State of Iowa Historical Building. I'm not sure how many people it accommodates but 300 would be about max. Great view of the capital plus the ICubs had fireworks that night. Parking ramp nearby, hotels nearby...just about perfect... -

I've been told that ISU hasn't gotten their allotment of ISU section tickets from A&M yet. However, you can buy tickets to the game right now, but won't find out where you are sitting until closer to game day. So if you call the ISU ticket office, they should be able to hook you up. My group... -

Any Ragbrai Tips?
As bad as it sounds....I suggest a fanny pack. While at the state fair, you'll look ridiculous, on RAGBRAI you'll fit in. Also, I bring giant zip lock bags to help me distinguish the clothes I retire for the week vs the ones that still have life. Smaller ziplock bags also help you keep stuff...
