    You're way overestimating the # of ISU fans. There were perhaps 8k. Which is a very good showing for a minor bowl 1000 miles away that is expensive to boot. Rutgers fans in the low 20-25k, which, as far as I'm concerned, is only minimally acceptable. All in all, an ok--not great--turnout. ISU...

    They seemed "out of sorts" because they were getting their *** kicked all day at the LOS on both sides of the ball. Sorry, you weren't playing an FCS team. You were playing an 8 win BCS program. I don't know why you think there must be some secret/unexplained flukey reason you lost.

    Carneigie Deli is a tourist trap and sucks. Katz's deli, despite its fame, has freaking amazing pastrami and is the real deal. Get a pastrami sandwich, nothing else. Maybe some pickels. Order at the counter.

    There are a bunch of sports bars around the stadium. We usually go to Stan's. None are particularly great but they get the job done. Usually when we go to Yankee games we drink in Manhattan first, but if it's a new experience probably don't want to navigate the subway for the first time hammered.

    Yeah. Even if the outfield weren't closed in, it faces the wrong direction. Old (pre-2009) Yankee Stadium was the same way, but the pre-renovation, original Ruth-Gehrig-Dimaggio-Mantle stadium had an open outfield. Unfortunately, it faced northeast, so it was still just a view of the Bronx...

    No. For some reason the architects who designed Yankee Stadium never considered the value of framing the skyline (see PNC Park in Pittsburgh). All you can see is the jumbotron.

    Travel Help from Anyone

    For getting to the city from LGA, just take the M60 bus. It's really quite simple. The M60 bus goes to 125th street, from there you can get a subway line to anywhere (The 1 goes right to 42nd street). This should work fine for a regular night as well (after the bowl game, say) to get home...

    Well, slight hedge. I've done a birthday party cruise around Manhattan, and I've done a NYE cruise around Boston Harbor. Based on those two experiences, I can say...fun, but not worth $140. Does that include anything? Booze?

    Nice. Do you mind if I ask where you ended up in Jersey city? I had recommended the Westin Jersey City to a couple of people but it turns out they are charging $400 a night. (NYE markup...last time I stayed there I got a $90 room on priceline).
