The primary reason that they are looking to go independent is because they are hampered in their earning potential by a weak television contract.... he PAC 10 Ads and Coaches did want them years ago.... The Board of Regents make the decision though and they don't like Religious based schools.... BYU is specifically thought to be too conservative for them.....Lots of articles out on that very topic.... -

Budget size is dictated by the need.... You also have to look at what is included in the budgets that you are comparing to make sure that you are comparing apples to apples.... BYU is more than capable of meeting its financial obligations.... -
