    Any Lincoln vehicle owners here?

Not a Lincoln owner, but I had an uncle who has since passed who was pretty well off. He was a school superintendent, then sold text books, owned a farm and a golf course and a cabin at the lake. He showed up with his family to a family reunion one time in a Lincoln. It was the Lincoln with the...

    General Sickness

From my understanding, there are two different kinds of asthma (each with subgroups, so there are actually more than two different types). There's allergic or eosinophilic asthma, which is regular asthma and then there's asthma that's induced by exercise. I was actually diagnosed with both. If I...

At Houston is the biggest road game since _____?

I'll bite. Since Feb. 16, 2000, when we played Kansas in Lawrence. As I recall, and this is going off a dulling memory, we were either tied with Kansas for the conference title or were one game ahead of them and we hadn't beaten Kansas in Lawrence in forever. I think that was the Jamaal Tinsley...

    General Sickness

I tell people that I outgrew asthma. They say that's not possible, but I was afflicted with it all through my childhood into my mid- to late 30s. Like a dumba$$, I was also smoking, starting at 18. I took prescribed medicine daily for my asthma and then they made it over the counter, so it was...

What game or event made you a Cyclone for life?

There was never any specific game or event. When I went to Iowa State the first time in 1971, I just naturally followed the Cyclones. My first experience with Iowa State was when Martinez Denmon was the leading scorer in 1971. Clint Harris was the second leading scorer and sophomore Eric Heft...

Every game I say 'Ok THIS game we are gonna come out flat and not shoot well...'

It's hard to go into a shooting slump with this team when you have 4 or 5 double figure scorers nearly every game. If a couple of people are off, there are a couple of others who can pick them up. Also, we score a ton in the paint, which also negates poor shooting nights to some extent.

Twister Sister Summary - Goodness Gracious Great Balls of Fire!

Joens played way too much Olay defense for my liking. I have a feeling that's why she doesn't see more playing time. If she tightens that up, we may have something there.

Fan Duel evidently has our O/U at 7.5 wins... Thoughts?

I saw a video where three guys were discussing the Big 12 and the O/U for wins put out by Vegas. Iowa State was listed at 7.5. When evaluating these O/Us, the guys mostly picked the under. Iowa State was one of a few exceptions where they picked the over and two of them said they were more...

    T J

Hoiberg still has the highest career winning percentage at .673, followed by Eustachy at .638. T.J. is tied for third with Floyd right now at .633. Ken Trickey is by far the worst at .245.

    Friday OT: Rooster or Owl

I have always been a night person, even when I was forced into being a day person because of some factory jobs I had when I was younger where I had to be ready to work at 7 a.m. Luckily, the last 30 or so years of my work life, I worked second shift and didn't have to show up until after noon.

Is this our first “random guy shooting 25% from 3pt but goes off” in our favor?

You know, they made a big deal about his 3-point shooting percentage, but he had only tried 16 threes on the year prior to this game. Can you really determine how well a guy shoots 3s on a sample size of 16? In 19 games up until that one?

Have you ever hated someone and ended up liking them?

My son-in-law. Hate is a strong word. Let's just say I was less than impressed by him. The first time I met him, we were together with my daughter for about 2 hours and he never took his nose out of his phone or said more than two words, none directed toward me. He turned out to be a pretty...

Dad Sayings - Words of Wisdom

My dad rarely said a word when he was home, which was not often because he was in the military and was stationed where we couldn't follow him most of my childhood. The rare times I did see him on a 30 day leave, it was like a stranger came to visit for a while. It was my mother who had all the...

Dad Sayings - Words of Wisdom

I was always told it was three things, gas, spark and air. Have I been misled all this time?
