OU's Paris puts scholarship on the line

I kind of agree. What is a scholarship for anyways? (A) Getting a degree, or (B) winning a national championship?

If you answered B, you're wrong.

Almost belittles all the other girls across the nation who are using basketball scholarships for something other than a professional basketball career.

Wonder if she will pay the car dealership back what they overpaid her? That is when you know an Oklahoma athlete means business. That 64k is chump change to them.

I don't see anything wrong with it... She got a scholarship in return for playing the best basketball she possibly can. If she feels that her best is bringing in a National Championship then that's how she feels she would earn the scholly...

According to you. Apparently not according to Courtney, and it's her scholarship.

I see where you're coming from...but that kind of diregards the fact that it's a team sport...

Maybe she's good enough that it's not

It's one of those times where a person tries to make a statement, but it has a very good chance of backfiring.

It's pretty stupid from a normal person's standpoint (one who maybe struggled to pay bills during college). It must make sense to her. Whatever, I think she's dumb.

Hopefully it doesn't come down to a free throw for one of her teammates, and she misses it. That'd be a pretty expensive miss for Paris.

Anything can happen in the big dance. Injuries and upsets happen every year. Her parents are either loaded and this wouldn't be a burden to her at all and isn't admirable, or she doesn't think it'd be a big deal to have $64,000 in debt all because you didn't win a tournament where the odds are against you. I'm pretty sure that's an alternative definition of stupid in the dictionary.

This is like playing roulette and going all in on 20. Except even if it hits 20, you don't win anything. You just get to keep your money.

Is she going to be playing in the WNBA? She must think she's going to have all kinds of money to say a ridiculous thing like that.

What do WNBA players even make these days?

It also could put unnecessary pressure on her teammates. I can't find an angle where this doesn't look stupid.

Um, yes, she'll play in the WNBA. She'll have no problem affording the 64k.

Too bad this isn't a two way street...

"I flunked out of school which means I did not hold up my end of the bargain, so I am going to give back the money I wasted."
