Court Storming

The video appears to show the Duke player was looking at the fan approaching and he intentionally stuck his right leg out to trip the fan.

We got us another Caitlin Clark??

The player was walking towards his bench. And it turns out that when someone is walking, they have to put one leg out in front.

Stop trying to blame the player here. The Wake student was dumb for trying to taunt and get in the players face. And the Wake Forest administration holds the most responsibility for failing to have proper measures in place to protect the visiting team.

It turns out that when you see someone running directly in front of you, the normal reaction is to immediately stop and avoid collision, not to extend your right leg directly in their path. The video doesn't lie.

The Duke players made no attempt to exit the court quickly while the other team's celebration chaos was starting. I don't have a lot of sympathy for them.

So yeah, because one player supposedly got injured (no, I'm not counting the hilarious Caitlin Clark acting job), we should ban all future on court celebrations.

Why is it the player's responsibility to run off the court? They actually have a right to be there.

I don't think court storming should be banned, but there is no reason they can't wait for the players to get off the court first.

To be mad at the other institution for not providing adequate security. Not at court storming itself
And is the injury the result of an Iowa State player trying to shove someone? Because that will also make a difference in how I feel.

But even if I was upset at the other fans, it would be because I’m biased. That doesn’t mean it would be the correct decision.

You got to love when things are shown in slow motion and people try to prove intent. To me, Flip was walking off the court like a normal human, placing one foot in front of the other, became startled when he saw the fan, tried to pick up his pace and get off the court, and his first reaction was to put his hands out.

I'm not saying court storming needs to be banned, but this was an absolute failure by Wake, and they should 100% be held accountable. If this same thing were to happen at UCF next weekend, except replace Flip with Bob Jones, every single ISU fan, myself included, would be losing their minds.

The player is supposed to quickly exit the court, but also stop as people run at him? Which one is it?

Scheyer said in retrospect he should have gotten them off the court earlier. Umm yeah, you think, get them over by the benches instead of wandering around at half court with no urgency.

He's played and coaches at Duke ffs, what do you think is going to happen on the road. Terrible awareness by their staff and players.

No argument here.

It's just that when your opponent has beaten you in a big upset, and their fans are obviously excited and want to celebrate, you don't slow walk, trip a fan, and claim injury. You bite down hard, do your best to avoid collisions while you jog off the court, and allow the fans to have their celebration.

A normal human being can do both.
I wanted to rush the court yesterday when we beat WV, but nobody joined me.

Seriously - I think court storming is part of the college game. But having thousands of fans intermingled with the opposing team is not a good idea. Need a solution. Obviously, there is not a good fix in place.

Upon reviewing the replays, the Wake fan appears to see Flip and taunts him. Flip sees the fan taunting him and appears to give him a shove. In doing so, the fan runs into Flip’s leg.

I believe the fan intentionally taunted Flip, and Flip intentionally responded with a a two-hand shove. I don’t think Flip intentionally tried to trip the fan by extending his leg.

At the end of the day, the schools are responsible for implementing systems to protect players. If the schools fail to implement such systems, they should be fined or held accountable in some other manner, IMO.

NCAA needs to have Coach Tang provide a video and manual as to how to stop Court storming and require all AD’s to attend seminars led by Coach Tang at the Final Four….since he will be available.
