Or that the potential isn't that high of a ceiling to begin with.

Prime example: The Iowa men's team under Fran never had the potential for a Final Four run but their players tweeted about it to make it seem real.

I admittedly don’t watch women’s basketball (not even Iowa State), I know I know bad fan, so I don’t where any standings are at. Every tweet on my timeline is about how Iowa gets everyone’s best shot.

Then I see that it was a game between the #2 and #3 teams in the conference. How in the world is a late season top 3 conference matchup Indiana’s Super Bowl? I would hope any team would bring their best shot. Am I taking crazy pills.

I called earlier in this thread Iowa would finish 2 or 3 in the Big 10. Shocker but not really, it’s not CC fault it’s her teammates and the officials. Facepalm

Clark can carry that team, she is a tremendous player but can you imagine if she had a better supporting cast like the other elite teams in the country like SC and LSU do where she didn't have to carry the team on her back nearly every night. For being a runner up for the national title with the best player in the sport they should have been a destination team for top recruits and transfers and instead they rolled out basically the same team minus Czinano who was the perfect compliment for Clark last year. You would think that would have made them a destination for talent so that has to make you pause and think why they didn't make any big additions in the offseason. I'm not so sure they get a #1 seed if they lose tonight as they still have Ohio State to finish the conference season and another loss would certainly mean 3rd place in the conference.

I'm convinced Clark will not be back next year. They lose several key players and she has nothing left to prove and won't win a national title with the cast coming back. The NIL/sponsorship money will still be there when she goes to the WNBA so the money is not a factor.

Maybe others don’t want to come play with her otherwise recruiting should be easy

Iowa's been ranked in the top-5 pretty much all season. Has been the highest nationally-ranked team in the B1G all season. The idea that other teams are going to get up for a top-5 opponent who has the best player in country doesn't seem all that strange.

They are also overrated, and going to get Creighton'd again in the tourney.

Breaking news: Sports team gets motivated to play another team they are battling in standings late in the season.

They would have gotten up for whoever was the first place team too.
