Often when "bigs"/post players come to college, they are kind of raw. Many of them "grew" into that position later in high school and they haven't played the position long enough to develop the position skills to the level that players at other positions have.

That said, ISU seems to struggle more on offense at that position relative to its conference peers, and has since back to the later Hoiberg years.

The college schedule is intense, and there isn't much time to work on "developmental" things in practice once the season gets into swing. Hopefully ISU can tweak a few things to help those guys cash in those points around the hoop.

Looking at the box score for this game, I see Tyrese Hunter put up a big zero for points. I see his game has become stagnat , at best. He really seems to have become a worse scorer than when he was a freshman. Great win for a really good Cyclone team on the road in a venue where the Clones have not had much success.

It's a repeat of last year with general perspective on why a player is on the court.

They miss a couple of shots and the ultra reactivity is 'get him out of there!' while they may be doing other things that help vs the situation or matchup, whatever.

Shots sometimes just don't fall even if they're bunnies but that threat still needs to be there.

Metrics bear this out. This was our second best offensive performance {in conference} and our third best defensive performance based on Torvik adjusted offensive and defensive ratings.

I go back and forth on it. It's good to not read it but then curiosity gets to me and it's interesting to watch the spiral.
