49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

I have no problem Dak winning the MVP. He led the league in completion percentage, TD passes, and second in passing yard. I also have no problem with Josh Allen winning. He led the league in total TD and passed over 4000 yard with good amount rushing yard
Then why would you be surprised or upset that the media was mentioning them alongside Brock?

That was before the Ravens game. Before the Ravens game Purdy led the league in TD passes, completion percentage, yard per attempt, and second in passing yard with almost 100 less pass attempts than the yardage leader. Also, his team had the best record In NFL.

I'm far from an NFL stats expert but every time I checked stats all season it surprised me that there were always 3-4 top QBs where separating their stats was like splitting hairs, Brock among them. A lot of weeks when they had played the same # of games Dak and Brock had nearly identical #s.

I'm sure Drew Brees wouldn't trade his Superbowl MVP for an NFL MVP award...just thinking of a legendary QB who Brock most reminds me of.

Jokic didn't give a flying **** that they gave NBA MVP to Embiid last year as he was hoisting the Finals trophy. It was funny to follow, he was almost actively campaigning to NOT get MVP again.

Run when needed. Like NFC Championship and Super Bowl. He's underrated for athleticism, running ability and creating off schedule. While not the fastest in the world he can create on his own running and put pressure on a defense. Now is the time to do it. They just try to keep him healthy all year long. But in the big games it's time to do it.
Brocks running ability was a pretty underutilized part of his game at ISU. I don't know how true it is, but ISU fans in general have the impression that the coaching staff had him under strict orders not to run.

Seriously is there other avid Chiefs fans out there? I have no idea how to feel about this game. I’ve bled red and yellow/cardinal and gold for ISU and KC my whole life. For those who haven’t been to Arrowhead it’s very much like JTS, very inviting people and great tailgating. My son and I got to meet Brock after the TCU game of Senior night and got his autograph and picture, he was so cool to talk to for a couple minutes. I cannot see myself rooting against the Chiefs, that’s like rooting against Iowa State but I can’t root against Brock either. This is so painful.
I mean, aren’t chiefs fans getting a little greedy at this point?

I hope Purdy throws for 500 yards and 5 TDs in an amazing losing effort. And I still don’t feel good about it.

Edit: Honestly, I can't lose here. The only thing that could possibly soften your team losing the super bowl is a super great kid who is the best QB in the history of your school wins the super bowl.

I think another point to think about for Purdy in how well he has done this year, he had major off season surgery. He could win SB, league MVP, and should be named comeback player of year.
Without question. They tried to bring in Tom Brady and there was talk about having him sit out the year. Starting from day one and then doing what he did in his sophomore campaign is straight up amazing.

That impression is because it’s the only explanation. Through his freshman and sophomore years he wasn’t afraid to run not only when he had to, but when it was there. Then in his junior and senior years he simply wouldn’t run not only when it was the best option, but it was the only option. I keep going back to the Big 12 Championship game, but with 90 seconds left Purdy had at least 20 yards of open field in front of him and would have gotten at least a first down running and probably much more than that - and a freshman/sophomore Purdy would have easily taken that. Instead, Purdy threw to a double-covered Charlie Kolar downfield, and he couldn’t make the catch, and the rest is history. Only a QB who had the fear of running conditioned into him would ever turn down that much running space.

Watching Purdy in the second half last night reminded me of freshman/sophomore Purdy - the one that wasn’t afraid to make the play with his legs when he had to and it was there.
