Pav is sneaky good about getting into the lane, but our bigs need to seal off their defender or clear out the lane to avoid Pav getting swatted. BRE is good at sealing off his man if it's a designed play.

- We should be able to turn them over being they are 338th in TO% when they have the ball.

-Defensively they aren't the best ranking 130th.

-They shoot the 3 ball about the same as us, so expect them to go 13/20 tonight. Hah
Am I reading this right? They Turn the ball over on 20% of their possessions? So 1 out of every 5 possessions they give it back to the other team? Tonight that team will be the best team in the nation on getting turn overs.

Thats like putting out a grease fire by throwing kerosene on it.

He's really good away from the ball and making back cuts to get himself open. That **** works against ****** teams as he can lay it up without having to worry about his lack of athleticism (being able to dunk or go up strong) or the weak side defender coming in to swat it. Against Big 12 competition though, his ability to do that is largely thwarted. Given that he's not comfortable shooting and (physically and talent) ill-equipped to defend athletes at this level, I think it's wasting minutes when he's on the floor. That is unless injury or foul trouble make it absolutely necessary.

I feel bad because the dude tries hard and maybe next year he can bulk up enough to maximize his athletic ability and explosion but right now he's not a Big 12 caliber player. That's only exacerbated when he's put on the floor with the wrong people (King, Omaha, Bre, Milan) who, as a collective, aren't quick enough or observant enough (King) to defend as a unit.

They are both careless with the ball AND bad at forcing the opposition to be careless with it. They also aren't super adept at defensive rebounding, meaning we should have a 10+ possession advantage tonight and that's probably being generous (to them...I can see it being closer to 15). That's a 9-10 point adv alone with shooting percentages, and 3 point percentages factored in. On the road, with the crowd being a huge factor, avoiding TOs is vital.

As long as Otz doesn't **** up his rotations And/Or we get careless with stupid fouls (foul trouble) I think we win by 15-20 points. We are a REALLY bad matchup for them. Mark my words...they will have at least 20 TOs tonight. I think it's possible they even approach TCU (24-28 TOs) futility.

Lol Rob is not a massive liability ZRF. Give it a rest. Who we play instead? Omaha?

Before you fly off the handle and rush to the defense of your BFF why don't you try reading and comprehending before responding?

Rob in and of himself isn't a problem defensively. With that said he doesn't have the athleticism or talent to cover for OTHER's mistakes. Tre is someone who constantly gets caught sagging or not paying attention which causes him to be late or others to cover his man. Pavs is someone who has a REALLY hard time fighting through screens or keeping up with supremely talented/sized opponents. Omaha is kind of like Tre at this point, which is to be somewhat expected as a freshman. Then you have Milan who has made TREMENDOUS strides in the last few months but, like with Rob, doesn't have the quickness or ability to cover when someone else can't/won't do their job.

So their you have it. It's not that Jones is the problem by himself, it's that certain rotations WITH him are problematic. That's not his fault, it's the fault of Otz for needlessly creating some of those situations. Due to the various reasons listed above, having 3 of those players on the floor together is NOT smart basketball. If Ward, R Jones/Tre, and 2 of Watson, CuJo, Lipsey, and Gilbert are on the floor with Pavs? It can work. It might be able to work if Milan is out there with Ward Cujo, and Lipsey. But if 3 of the players are out there at once, especially without having 2 elite defenders occupying the other spots? It just doesn't work. And if R Jones, King, Pavs, and Milan are out there at the same time (and or Omaha) it's a disaster. More than the individuals it's the sum of the parts that just don't work.

PER:
Rob - 20.9
Ward (limited sample size) - 24.8
King - 19.7
McCay senior year - 20.6
Ejim full career - 21.2
Ejim Sophomore - 20.9 Identical

I could go on...

Like the other poster you need to read. Rob has been very good this year, but his lack of true athleticism does make certain rotations with him problematic. Again that's more of the fault of the other players (King, Pavs, Omaha, and to a lesser degree Milan) than it is himself. When he gets pair with King or Omaha, and we have Pavs and Milan on the floor that's a big problem. Otz made some very bad and unecessary rotational decisions and that's when TCU inflicted most of his damage.

Again, reading is fundamental.

What's the max age in adulthood that one should be using the diminutive "Chuckie" and not "Chuck" or "Charles"?

King McClure has improved from a couple years ago, IMO, but, well, I still don't enjoy his commentary.
As McClure was exposed to more basketball he refined his commentary and dropped virtually all of the petty rivalry stuff he leaned on early on. That said, a lot of his commentary are just random non-sequiturs and doesn't lend much to playing off of his color partner which is the job. How long has he been doing it now?

Uh...Thanks, I think?

Iowa State @ Hilton

At least at Ames they don't hire homer refs who give the home team an advantage like at the old chicken house, Allen Fieldhouse.
Instead someone gives their players a snort of some special corn hooch, and then gives it to their fans. Then some player has a career night shooting, the others defend like they are trying to keep you away from their grandma because they are convinced you are going to ravage her, and the fans are like a mob yelling at you because they know you are a grandma molester.

Not an easy place to play basketball... let alone win.
We can win though.

IMO we will if 2 players get hot at scoring and the Cats pass the ball instead of trying to dribble like the Harl3m Globetrotters. Coach Tang hinted in yesterday's in the press conference to shoot fast.

I guess it is better to at least get a shot than to lose the ball to a turnover. ISU are one of the nation’s top teams in forcing turnovers. I think they forced 27 turnovers against TCU.

Ya you definitely did say he's a liability. Maybe check your writing skills Mr. Fundamentals.

If you can't read that's your own problem.

Look again. All I did was state Rob's limitations which have been readily acknowledged (and publicly stated) by his own coach. Rob is a fine 1 on 1 defender but lacks the athleticism and foot speed to recover (when beat) or to rotate to cover someone else's mistake.

That's not on him. With that said it does create issues when our coach willingly, and for reasons I haven't been able to fathom, pairs him with players who often get bet or lose their own men. That leaves you with 2-3 guys who are poor individual defenders and BRE, which compromises the integrity of the unit.

Don't believe me? Go back and watch the last game. Almost every time TCU made a substantial run it was when Otz made befuddling and unnecessary rotational decisions with said players. To be clear, that's not on them as much as it is the coach (who should know said limitations).

JFC if you aren't dense.

I am 100% taking that as praise.
