What’s the outlook for Tuesday next week? I’m seeing another round. Iowa ins’t that flat, I’ve got mountains on each side of my driveway lol!!

We have a ditch on one side and husband always clears some of the snow because there is a pipe that runs under the street and empties water that drains from the intersection through the ditch. If that can’t flow, the intersection is a mess.I don't know about in the city, but rural says dispose of it on your own property. I've gotten chewed out a couple times for pushing it across the road into the adjacent ditch. I think the thought process is that most wont push it far enough in and it will melt onto the road. Also it gets hard enough after moving it that it's hard on their equipment when they try to "wing" it further off the shoulder with the maintainer.
Whatever direction I can get it to go without the wind blowing it back onto me. If I have to go towards the street then I drop it into the area between the sidewalk and curb though. Fairly certain it's illegal to blow it into the street, and if you do it'll just end up back in the end of your driveway anyway when the plows come by.
Most cities it's illegal to blow it into street but when the wind is blowing 40 mph like last week no one is ever gonna know so I just tee it high and let it fly. What’s the official ruling one where to blow the snow? Do you intentionally blow it into the street for the plows to take away? Or do you try to keep it on your property?
I do my best not to blow it toward the street but if there’s wind from the north, I’m not having it blow back in my face for an hour just to save some plowing.
I have a rock driveway and if I pile the snow on the surrounding grass areas (especially after the first couple pushes when things might not be completely frozen) I have to deal with the inevitable gravel on the lawn after it melts. I always cheat at least the first couple pushes into the adjacent ditch so I don't have to deal with that problem. If I live long enough I will eventually have built a driveway into my neighbors field LOLWhat’s the official ruling one where to blow the snow? So my neighbor hired some idiots to plow their driveway and they basically decided to push it right into my yard. They tore up a big chunk of grass, some edging, and landscaping I did on the property line with their blade.
Any recourse i have with this other than to fix it myself in the spring?
My neighbor worked on some of it themselves on their side so I can't imagine they are happy either.Probably not worth the hassle but either tell your neighbor or the company hired to knock that **** off or they’ll keep doing it.
I'm the president of our townhouse association board and I can tell you, people are ridiculous about it. Reading some of the comments reminds me of the many calls and emails I get about snow removal and lawn mowing.I never realized people got so upset over snowblower noise. I guess maybe there is more space between houses in small towns, I never hear them. Two of my sons would have been born at home if my husband didn’t shovel the driveway late at night.
Could be wrong, but I heard there might be another arctic blast after February 1st. The good news though is at least it will be February.
I live on a street that runs east/west, with a neighbor's driveway a few feet away to the east. I have no choice but to blow it west, which is almost always straight into the wind, which sucks. I never blow it into the street intentionally. What’s the official ruling one where to blow the snow? Do you intentionally blow it into the street for the plows to take away? Good chance of that next wkI know every bit helps, but take a 5 gallon bucket, fill it with snow, bring it in to melt and you'd be surprised how little water is in it comparatively. Best bet is to move the snow to a grade that will drain to the pond when it melts eventually if possible.
Tomorrow might be a good day to make some Chili in the slow cooker. I might have to add more beans to keep me warm under the covers that night.
Hopefully, the drain doesn't freeze solid and then we get a fast melt/rain. You may end up with waterfront property...or worse. My driveway is the low spot on our cul de sac, so I have a massive 5 by 4 sewer drain at the end of my driveway. I shovel all the snow to the drain and push it in. Its almost full this morning and I would say its ~ an 8 foot deep drain basin, it works slick as snot.
