Sports Illustrated Done

Damn! I was waiting for one of my sports team to win a championship so I could frame the front cover.

I guess that means my Vikings will never win the Super Bowl now.
You can bet your 401k on that. I already did.

I preferred the Sporting News. Less pictures, more stats.

Surely someone will buy the rights to the Swimsuit Issue and keep that going, right? Although with infinite pron available free, is there much point in a swimsuit issue?
Agree. The Sporting News was better. Sports Illustrated was like 30% ad space.

I still remember what a huge deal it was when Hoiberg made "faces in the crowd" or when Jeff Grayer was featured (of course they put him in overalls and shot a picture in a cornfield).

After getting caught having articles that were 100% AI including fake AI authors and profiles...I'm not surprised.

My first introduction to SI was SI for Kids when I was about 8 years old, pre-internet being a big thing. That's where I learned about of different athletes who weren't on my favorite teams. Eventually grew into the traditional SI. Sucks seeing your childhood go away.

Lots of nostalgia when I think about punching out those card inserts they had in the middle of the magazine.

Haven't read an SI magazine in years. Maybe 10-15 years? Do they still do the swimsuit issue? Loved those in junior high.

Still have my Marcus Fizer cover picture issue around here somewhere. Should probably frame it and put it in our ISU shrine.

I found mine over the break while organizing my basement storage. I probably need to do the same with it and hang it somewhere in my ISU mancave. Still have a whole box or 2 to go through of college stuff from 98-02 where I saved various stuff from games or newspapers and such that I'm sure I will uncover some more goodies from that era in ISU sports.

This is like my experience with Entertainment Weekly when it went from weekly to monthly than completely online. I used to read it every week, but now I don't ever look at it.

Going on a side tangent here, but I remember when she hit it big and became a national sensation that there was a poster on here who constantly bagged on her; writing about how ugly and dumpy she was.

That poster always gave off uber d*ouche vibes to me. It's one thing to not be attracted to her (although that in itself makes me wonder) but he was just obnoxious about it.
