*** Official #2 Houston vs IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

Judging from the number of free tickets available for the Houston game, looks like the fans aren't expecting ISU to fare well.

Yes, dorms still closed. Class is not in session yet. I believed they offered students the opportunity to buy some tickets, so they'll be interspersed with the families that buy up those sections as part of the Jr Cyclone Club, but it won't be the rowdy baselines you're used to.
Need to play a lot of "Juicy", and hopefully we will!

I don't think it's likely to happen with this team, but probably the biggest area of concern is the amount of times we opt for a sloppy double, only for it to directly lead to an open basket (first pass...open player from the man that doubled) or indirectly a few passes later (slow rotations). Making it even more frustrating is these have often come in stretches of good man defense where the double was completely unecessary. Without having stats to back this up it feels like we easily yield 6-10 points on such situations. While other teams can do this (at times) as well, the amount we do this looks and feels excessive.

We also give up a lot of bad rebounds in situations where we either had (clear) position or had major ratio advantage around the ball. In particular Milan is one of the worst rebounders I've ever seen as he routinely watches the ball while failing to block out or secure the rebound.

Ward needs to keep himself on the floor (stay out of foul trouble) as we look and feel like a completely different team when he plays. He's electric on the defensive end and one of the few players we have who never stops moving.
Completely agree. We missed Ward badly against TAMU.

You mean the debacle where no fans were allowed into Hilton? It wouldn't have mattered if they won every game......Hilton would have been empty.
Great point!.. totally forgot that was pandemic era.

But that said, Prohm's teams had some really bad home losses non-con. And it seemed fewer overall comeback/wins vs ranked teams type wins. And I don't really think it was a Hilton C issue.

TJ is 10-8 in Hilton in the Big 12 play. That's not exactly imposing like it used to be with Hoiberg and the early Prohm teams.
Right. But that's 10-8 with makeshift teams with major scoring issues overall.

This year's team is the first with really the kind of depth and skill that TJ wanted to bring in all along.

I went from Nevada to Ames earlier today to go into work. Both new 30 and old 30 Nevada to Ames were not good. Even slid a couple of times. Appreciate the offer but fine watching from home.

What I’m talking about is the overall environment. Moving the student section/arena circle under the hoops, back 5 feet is an example. Students, and regular fans before Cyclone Alley, used to be right on top of the court only a few short years ago. Not so anymore.

That’s just one example.

Not at all. I expect a heck of a game.
Just not sure it is wise to travel for me.
I wish our first snowfall was tomorrow instead of today. Go clones. It’s killing me not to be there.
