Do you live in Iowa City? That's the only way I could understand being sheltered from how big a story Brock has been.

I'm a wrestler to the core and followed Cael and to think that Cael's story is the national story that Purdy has been is insane.

Ditto with Hyde.
Brock Purdy doesn't play for ISU anymore. JFC how hard is this too understand. His current pro team isn't the local team either. Why the **** would the local stations do stories on him every night? You understand the difference between like Kurt Warner and Brock Purdy right?

Somewhat similar stories if Brock can go all they way except that far more Iowans followed and watched Purdy play football than Warner before their nfl breaks. I never even heard of Kurt Warner until his nfl break and I had lived in Iowa my whole life at that point. Love them both, not ashamed that both are more interesting local Iowa and national stories to me than CC, simply because I’m a bigger fb fan than wbb fan, like the vast majority of all fans in the USA and Iowa by the numbers.

It's also way easier to market Iowa players as they take up 3/4 of the state's fans. Every time I'm east of Newton I'm reminded that ISU doesn't exist. Except for Story County is there a county with a majority ISU fans?

North Iowa where I’m at is basically 50/50 and it’s usually graduates vs tavern hawks.

There are way more ISU fans than there used to be for sure. I think ISU has done a good job of making DM more of a Cyclone town. I think we outnumber Iowa fans there. I grew up in Taylor County and maybe 15% were ISU fans. 15-20% were Nebraska fans, and the rest Iowa. Are there counties in the north and east parts of the state where you'll find Minnesota or Wisconsin fans sprinkled in?

You don’t find many MN fans across the border from me. It’s Vikings and not gophers.

Seems like its that way in most places where there are pro teams in the state. Missouri is the same way. I feel like there are a lot more Mizzou fans in the St. Louis area than KC too. I'm sure KU and K-State have something to do with that.

IIRC, every county in Iowa has more ISU grads (or maybe it's attendees) than EIU.

Not all. Black hawk has UNI and then there is a circle around Johnson county for Iowa. It might extend to Davenport. It’s like 70-80 counties are higher ISU grads.

Yeah....I could be hilariously wrong with my comment, but I thought I remembered ISU or the Alumni Association touting the statistic a few years back. I did some googling but couldn't find it.

That percentage has been falling for years. Only Hawkeyes still insist that 3/4 of the state's fans root for them.

I've been trying to find the map as well. There was a circle of yellow around CR & Iowa City, and a purple dot for "Cedarloo", but the rest was cardinal. I don't remember if it represented alumni or fans though. Probably alumni.
