This is the true effect of Doyle being " fired"
They played one very good offense in PSU and gave up 31. Michigan is a decent offense and they gave up 26.
Keep in mind “complimentary football” also means that once opponents get a lead they can go into low risk mode. Also Iowa plays drain the clock, minimize possession football. Iowa losing by 26 and 31, as they did against the two good teams they played, is like a normal team losing by 40+. They are a 6-7 win team that gets to 9-10 by playing in the worst power conference division since it’s inception.
Their kicker has been inconsistent, making their ST overall very good (elite P and PR). Their defense is very good. It’s not great.
They’ve played 2.5 games against teams that are ranked in the last CFP ranking, and they’ve been out scored 71-0.

Yes 3 more teams that weren't that good. I mean we're all proud of our Cyclones and what they did, but that was a team full of Freshmen (including the QB) with plenty of deficiencies.
Most Hawkeye fans I know understand how terrible they actually are. They knew they were going to get slaughtered in the B1G championship game, and they don't care about today's game, even knowing half of Tennessee is sitting out. They like the good record but know the West division isn't real. They have a lot of trepidation about where they will stand starting next year.
Huh? Unless I’m confused, Rocco didn’t have food poisoning vs Iowa and isn’t a true freshman.
Trust me I did believe our offense was crap then. That was the point.

Jesus, Deacon Hill looks like one of his linemen out there. I'm fat, but at least I'm 46 and not supposed to be at the peak of my athletic career.
Oops you're right, but Pt remains he was in his fist p5 game and wasn't even expected to be qb1. Even if we sit our NFL caliber dback. I'd love to get to play them now.

Sometimes in games like this I start to wonder how much of Iowa's vaunted defense can be chalked up to opponents knowing that getting 17 points is like scoring 48, and calling the game accordingly?
Just isn't the same when you aren't trying to kill your student athletes and hurling racist threats to the ones who don't toe the line.
Have these announcers not watched an Iowa game all year? They seem shocked at how bad Deacon Hill is.
