Yes those can be the basis of pretty much any team. But there could be different more effective ways to game plan. For example against Iowa the more effective game plan was to pound the pillowing soft interior.
I'm was highlighting more how this team plans on playing it appears. They want to force other teams into jump shooting teams and although our offense has been more efficient than in the past I don't think we are a good offensive team yet. Especially if we have to slow it out in a half court type game.
That's why TJ has been trying to push the temp. This team is still very reliant on being good defensively to have a chance of winning vs B12 teams.

I think the key to beating us seems to be about the same as the last two years. The defense tries to take away just about everything except you're going to get some good looks on threes, if you hit those and if ISU's shots aren't falling then you'll have a good chance to win.
The defense is probably not quite as good as the last couple years but on offense we have more than one or two guys who can shoot and get their own shot, so "the shots aren't falling" should hopefully be fairly rare.
I also keep forgetting we are down a starter. If Hason comes back and is at least close to his pre-injury level, I think the ceiling on this team can be pretty high!

He has some development to do but it hasn't sailed as long as OB understands that and is ok with that. Given how Robert Jones, and other players have developed here I think he would be remiss if he thought the staff couldn't do the same for him.
My only concern with him is if he isn't ready for B12 competition that puts a lot of stress on the 4. We have 3 options now with Fish done. Go 4 guards, play Watson at least 15 mins there, or have Ward play a little there.
I'm thinking TJ wants to go 4 guards. Which puts us in a bind defensively. Ward at the 4 doesn't sound like a situation we want to get into unless it's an emergency. Looks like Watson will spend some time there. Defensively it'll work although I feel he's better suited at the wing.
That's a long time from now. I'd say the rotation has been "tight" for a couple of games already.

Is there an example of coaches regularly emptying their bench in games leading up to conference season, particularly teams with lots of new players?
Omaha played 13 minutes two games ago. 4 fouls. Would 16 minutes be good for his development to foul out?
My thought with Ward back is a big lineup has TKing at 4 and Milan at 3. Go small and Milan to the 4, with 3 options at the post. 4 guards and only one of RJones, Ward or TKing is in.

I think we should run a big lineup of King/Ward/BRE/Momcy with Lipsey. Just set infinite screens for Lipsey and he can drive the lane for infinite points, kick to Momcy for a dagger-three in the rare event this plan doesn't work. Can swap Gilbert into the Lipsey role if Tamin gets into foul trouble or gets tired on his way to infinite points. Start planning the national championship celebration route in Ames.
If Iowa State goes 8-10 in this conference they are in. The Big 12 will get 9 this year and probably 10-11 moving forward. There is no conference that has a Top 6 like this one. Kansas, Houston, BYU, Baylor, OU, ISU and TCU. These will all be Top 6-7 seeds in the tournament and we likely have 2 #1 seeds.
I was just looking at national stats and Lipsey's defense has been amazing. He's currently #2 nationally in Steals and #1 in Defensive Win Shares and tied for #2 in Total Win Shares (just behind Edey). He's just outside the top 10 in assists as well. He's up to shooting 50% from the floor and 40% from 3 (and shot almost 75% from the line since Orlando)
He's had 3+ steals in 10 straight games, which is insane. I couldn't find game logs for Tinsley, but the most Morris ever had was 4.
Feel like TJ has options to create match-up problems for opponents or to match-up. It helps to have big/experienced guards like Gilbert and C. Jones.

Never take games at the Well. Hilton is a great advantage utilize it. IMO.
