Worst Movies Ever

If you like clip shows designed for slow children, sure.

It's a ******* terrible movie. It's the perfect harbinger of the cynical, creatively bankrupt trash Star Wars and all the other franchises that the House of Mouse has been ruining the past decade.

Notice I said "worst experience in a theater," though, and not "worst movie" (though it's a strong contender for that title, too). I might have posted this on here before, but well why not once more...

I went into The Force Awakens expecting a good film -- maybe not a masterpiece, but at least better than the dull and awkward prequels. The reviews were raving about it (turns out the Mouse is pretty good at splashing cash and/or access and favors to critics when it needs that Rotten Tomatoes score up).

"Star Wars is back!" they said. Maybe we collectively wanted to believe that. But nope.

I happen to be sitting next to a gentleman in the packed theater who embodied every negative stereotype you can imagine about basement-dwelling Star Wars fans. Poorly kept, wearing a white tank top, poor personal hygiene, exactly the kind of manchild you would conjure. And he spent the whole time pointing and gasping at every callback that even a casual fan would understand like it was a religious experience.

When the Millennium Falcon showed up, I think he had a seizure or... well, one might guess. He sat there trembling and banging his fists on his knees like he was playing some congas.

"THERE IT IS THERE IT IS THERE IT IS!!!" Yeah, we know idiot.

I just slumped back in my chair and waited for the lobotomy to be over.

Haven't been back to the franchise since outside of Rogue One, which was meh. Good riddance. I'm gonna go watch Die Hard or Lawrence of Arabia or Ford v. Ferrari or The Favourite or Sorcerer or the K-State game again (or really just anything that is any bit good) to try and get that bad memory out of my head.
I agree with pretty much everything you say here, although I've managed to slog through everything they've put out.

If you haven't watched Andor yet, give it a go. It's wonderful and would be a great stand alone series even without any SW tie-ins. It adds a bit more weight to Rogue One, too.

I seriously don't know how anyone could not like Step Brothers to the extent of putting it on a worst movies list.
To be fair, I'm about ready to fight you over your Independance Day opinions.

Although the "Will knocks out an alien" scene is objectively just awful. I cringe through it every time.

Outbreak is really bad too, Dustin Hoffman gives one of the worst acting performances ever.

Dustin says "I thought Isthar was my worst acting performance." Warren Beatty ranks up there as a bad actor also.

"Dumb and Dumberer" looked so bad after seeing the trailer for it, I still will not waste my time watching it.

Hear me out.

The Last Jedi was far and away the best of the sequel trilogy.

Force Awakened was a scene-for-scene copy of A New Hope but just worse in every way, mixed with immersion-breaking fan service.

Obviously rise of skywalker was just hot garbage. Palpatine? Really? Forced romance? All continuity thrown out the window?

TLJ had bad stuff (casino planet subplot), but at least the beats with Luke were interesting, and I thought the ending was excellent with the Hoth 2.0 and the space battle sacrifice thing.

I feel the opposite...probably because I fell for the nostalgia. I don't apologize for that...just the way I am toward that franchise. Also...I liked TFA and RoS a lot more than TLJ. I liked the sequel series...certainly has its flaws but Rey is a great character and I really enjoyed her. She was worthy of leading the sequel series...

Dustin Hoffman and Nicolas Cage....jeesh.

Shatner even shakes his head at their over acting.

I feel a bit bad for JJ Abrams for RoS. Disney clearly had no plan and he stepped in late to RoS.

I LOVED Star Wars growing up. ANH is a religious experience. I also grew up with the books and games and extended media.

I agree that Rey was actually a pretty good protagonist and I feel a bit bad that the series gets **** on as much as it does.

I appreciated the fan-service of TFA at the time, but now looking back I just think TLJ was by far the most interesting movie in the trilogy. I kinda get people thinking Luke was too far out of character, but it’s not like Mark Hamil smashed it out of the park in RotJ to begin with.

I totally respect your perspective, I just think TLJ was the most interesting of the sequels and I REALLY enjoyed the Luke/Rey dynamic, even compared to the Yoda/Luke dynamic.

The Last Jedi was offensively bad. I didn't even show up for The Rise of Palpatine. If you like that trash we can't be friends.

:mccaffery:

As far as Disney Star Wars goes, I enjoyed Mandalorian seasons 1 & 2 (should have ended there). Andor is enjoyable as well.
