OU is the only P5 2 loss team that wouldn't of made a 12 team play-off this year. 4 get in including Penn St.

I thought right away that the NCAA blew it when they announced that everyone got an extra year tacked on, even 4 years later. It was obvious that it was going to screw younger players. If you were a HS kid in a lot of places you lost a year then you get to college and after you’re RS soph or junior year you’re still behind a guy who is opting for a 6th year in 2024. That’s ridiculous.
No but that doesn't matter. Kind of like Ole Miss and LSU won what, 9 and 10 games each but in reality beat no one that was very good and got curb stomped by the two good teams it did play. But non of that matters because of the conference they are in.
Depending on the losses but a 10-2 Oregon team probably makes the 12 team playoff.
I'm just responding to a post saying Oregon wouldn't get in next year at 10-2. But the committee would of put 4 of 5 ( Penn St, Mississippi, Missouri and Oregon) P5 with 2 losses in and left OU out with a win over #3 Texas aledgedly.

6) Georgia
7) Ohio State
8) Oregon
9) Missouri

12) Probably Oklahoma but could also make the case for Notre Dame on branding
I’d forgotten the playoffs are expanding next year so I suppose they could make it if they finish top 3 in the Big Ten

Our local radio had Joel Klatt on as a guest last Friday. He said all of these rumored NIL deals are inflated. I tend to believe this too. But, I’m not in the industry, Blum would know actual totals.
Totally possible I’m wrong, but everyone involved has reason to inflate these numbers. The players/agents to create bidding wars, schools/collectives to increase donations, the media for more clicks. And none of this is public info, so there’s no real option to fact-check it. So I’m taking these NIL amounts with a grain of salt when I read them.
Not to say we shouldn’t be donating, or that there aren’t a select number of players who are fielding 7-figure offers.
Ohio State reportedly is preparing to offer Marvin Harrison Jr. a reported NIL of 20-25 million to return to Ohio State and pass on the NFL. Heard from a fairly reliable source FWIW
This is the type of deal that will send me off no longer watching college football. If I want to watch professional football, Sunday is available. People act as if the college kids were never getting anything in return for their efforts on the field. If they applied themselves they were given a quality education that is not afforded to all. I don't mind some NIL, as it makes sense, but there is a limit to what is reasonable. I suppose college football has been a money racket for many years, but now is being totally exposed.

I do . It's realistic in the sense that Ohio State sees themselves with Harrison JR + a better QB as being a national title team which for the university probably is way more than 20-25 million. And with a potential high 1st round pick - if you want him to stay you need that kind of money. And they have it
Even if they did, Harrison would have to consider the cost/benefit of giving up a year of potential to play "down" in college football. A lot of things can happen in that year.
And the NFL, who has rules about keeping younger players out for three years before allowing them to enter the draft, will ultimately decide to take a look at those rules if colleges choose to try and compete directly by keeping the best talent out of the pros.
