She commented on her size regularly during the broadcast, but never in a demeaning manner, IMO.

I mean as a basketball fan you have to talk about it.

As an NBA junkie I immediately thought of the impossible question of officiating Shaq because the size difference compared to other NCAA players is probably similar.

Sometimes Shaq would play aggressive and earn fouls, he had an angry side. Other times he'd basically just be standing there and other players crash into him and get away with fouls or Shaq would even br called for a foul himself just standing still. That's going to come up more and more the better she gets.

I mentioned this multiple times back when she was in high school -- as long as she has the conditioning to stay in games and run the court, her size is an incredible advantage. How many times have we had skinny posts that could get bumped off the block easily or struggled to finish through contact?

That was the first thing that stuck out to me when I watched her. She’s got all kinds of potential.

Yeah, a sketchy entry pass and I'd think "that's gonna be a turnover" but she would catch it really smooth and sometimes put up a nice shot right away.

ISU fans of a certain vintage also see a little Victor Alexander. Big frame, soft hands, good footwork.
Sadly, my time at ISU predates Victor Alexander so I'm of an even older vintage. The starting center at ISU when I was a freshman was big-bodied Ron Falenschek from small-town Minnesota. Nice guy - he used to hang out at an old-time barber shop on Hyland Ave. I think he might live in Northfield, MN now...

Ron was pretty firmly planted to the ground, as is Audi, but they made / make it work.

You're such a youngster. ;)

Bill Cain was the beast in the paint at the Armory when I was a freshman.

Dang…you’re an old bastard! I’m just a tad ahead of ICCYFAN. I was at ISU when men’s basketball was horrid and we all watched Lute Olson's Iowa teams.

Now it is going to bug me that I can't remember the name of that barber shop. Thanks.

I'll have to ask my brother he probably knows.

Wait a minute I just remembered - Monty's.

Big Vic is a great comparison! Crooks is far better than I expected, excited to see her develop. I figured she was your typical Iowa high school big-fish-in-a-small-pond but she looks like she can play against anyone so far. Really polished in the post, great hands, keeps the ball up high on rebounds which I love (so many players rebound then immediately bring it down low or dribble and get stripped/stolen). She is going to create match-up problems for anyone that doesn't have size in the post.
