This thread reminds me of when Trump wanted to build a wall, because China had one.

I've taken 2-3 non ISU people to games and the first thing they said was that the press box was really small. They were hawkeyes, so maybe just looking for reasons to 1-up the jackAdmittedly, I usually don't watch our home games on TV as I have season tickets, however, I don't believe they ever show the press box on a broadcast. When I am at the game the cameras are located on the same side as the press box and are pointed at the field. I have never walked into our fantastic stadium in the nearly 40 years I have attended games there and thought about the press box in any way shape or form. Guests that I have taken to games likewise have NEVER made comments about the press box. They do comment on how awesome our turf looks and do not believe it is real grass. They do comment on how much space we seem to have in our seats even when the stadium is full and numerous other things that are all surprisingly complimentary.
25 years =/= 50 yearsThe money to be made is not in basketball, but football, that is what is driving this whole conference expansion now going on. It makes no sense putting money into Hilton if it jeopardizes the money maker program which is football.
Think of it as "dressing for success", you enlarge the press box area with selective seating just like the Suckup section, charge more and make more money off of it. When ESPN or FX1 or who ever is broadcasting the game that day, the stadium turns peoples heads. Currently it looks cheap, like nothing has been done to the press box for 50 years, which is basically true.
You spend the money, where the money can be made, that is in football, not basketball, softball, but football. If you cannot see that, its on you. But those talking heads sure do, as well as anyone that watches us on TV that knows nothing about ISU. They see the small press box area and think "ISU must really be poor, if that is all they can afford."
I’ve watched games in the primo box on the 50. On the rare occasion when the weather is miserable, it is a pleasure. Other than that, I prefer sitting with the proletariat. The skybox is secluded and the view is to far away from the action for me. When the crowd gets amped up after a good play or preceding an important one, it does not filter into the box. I understand your view that our limited amount of skyboxes gives a negative initial impression of the stadium but In my opinion the vast surrounding parking/tailgating on game day in close proximity to the stadium is very impressive along with all the other upgrades added such as the bridge. If the demand for skyboxes exists and it makes financial sense, Jamie will make it happen. You are correct thou, the small amount of skyboxes does look tacky….. maybe Jamie could throw up another row of plywood skyboxes on top with silhouettes like was done during the Covid scare and the ESPN/SEC/B10 syndicate would let us in!Guess you guys know all the answers, I am out of this discussion.
There is not enough demand to fill press box suites.... Not sure what's so hard to understand about that. The money to be made is not in basketball, but football, that is what is driving this whole conference expansion now going on. It makes no sense putting money into Hilton if it jeopardizes the money maker program which is football.

ISU In Arrowhead in 2024
Three times if you add in the Florida State game. Seneca was in!Cool! Hopefully better results than the last two times ISU played there.
For sure!!! Forgot about that one and it was the most difficult one! Seneca was in!!Three times if you add in the Florida State game. Seneca was in!
Doubt it. especially with as much anti-turf sentiment that is growing in the NFL. As a Chiefs fans, I'm not really looking forward to this as you can look at the Steelers stadium to see what happens when a college team and pro team share the same field for a season. It's usually trash by thanksgiving.Would KC Put in Field Turf with all the traffic now? I know Arrowheads field is pretty rough at the end of the year
Thankfully surly isn’t. Went off the rails in the politics forum. Somehow the takes were worse there than the takes in the sports forums.I thought Surly was back for a minute.
