Time for a Real Discussion About Caitlin Clark

For contrast, in the first Iowa State WBB game, Addy Brown, a true freshman, got called for traveling that was marginal at best. She threw the ball to the ref and headed downcourt and made a good play on defense.

It is a tale of two programs!

Didn’t we recruit Clark? To be fair I don’t think you can’t offer such a high rated in state prospect, but we would’ve taken her if she wanted to come to Ames

I think we would have taken her but there is no way she would be allowed to act the way she does on the floor. CC even earlier this year said (I think it was in a media day interview) that she was thankful for Coach Bluder allowing her to be her (I heard shot selection / disparaging opponents, officials etc). My thought if she comes to ISU she would have changed or transferred - I would put my money on transfer. Also the rumor was she wanted to commit to ND but McGraw, who was the coach at the time, didn't want to deal with her attitude so did not take her commitment.

I hadn’t heard that tidbit about McGraw not wanting her. ND can get good players anyway, so I can understand her using a little more discretion.

Agree CC in Ames wouldn’t have worked out, but when you have that good of an instate prospect it’s still good practice to offer.

Like it or not she’s now an ambassador for the state. I just really wished she had matured by now. She hasn’t and it won’t take her long to get a bad rep in the WNBA

I didn’t have time to read all 100+ plus replies to this thread but I had a daughter that played basketball with her and can confirm she was an awful teammate. She wised up when she went to college and put on a good front to make $s, but she’s awful.
I know someone who went to high school with her mother. Let's just say that the apple didn't fall far from the tree.

For someone who is a senior, All-American, it is sad that she can't handle her emotions after being baited by a player from Purdue Fort Wayne. The player from Purdue FW was egging her on and she bought hook, line, and sinker.

Last year, Bluder made a big deal about how they had CC working on controlling her emotions on the floor, doing less flopping, and trying to have less chatter with the officials. Bluder commented how proud she was of CC for taking the coaching with an open mind.

If Zach Edey two-hand shoved someone to the ground and got a T it would definitely make Sportcenter game highlights, at minimum.
Well, to be fair, considering Zach Edey probably is going to have around half a foot - or more- and probably 50 pounds - or more - on almost everyone else on a basketball court... it would kind be news worthy when a modern mini giant shoves someone.

But your point is valid

I was trying to be current with Edey. Someone earlier reminded me about Grayson Allen and how big of a d-bag he was at Duke. Here is a link from CBS Sport in 2016 talking about it. Specifically for the poster that said this sort of thing never is talked about in the men's game.

If I were an opposing coach and or player i would try everything I could to get in her head knowing she's this fragile. I would bait her, too.
