Asking again: Has the rot started to set in?

Has the rot started to creep in?

Sometimes in life you just have to step up and admit when something isn’t working anymore. If this doesn’t feel like the Rhoads era or the Prohm times in basketball, then maybe you weren’t around for those eras.

Sometimes in life you need to admit you are an idiot. You should not be listened to. And you were trying to stir things up to get rid of Campbell. Best Coach in Iowa State history. Such an idiot.

The question everyone should be asking is WHY haven't they fixed the offense?!?

There was a time in 2017 when they scrapped the entire Cyclone defense because Akron ran for 150 yards on them in a half. And they did it in two weeks, successfully, and never went back. They were willing to do something different to win.

What happened to that? Maybe nobody in any of the offensive rooms has the credibility with Campbell that Heacock does when they say something needs to be done differently. But watching the offense bang its head against a figurative 8 and 9 man brick wall week after week is pretty disheartening when you know they've shown the ability to revamp on the fly in the past.

They can't even say the offensive schemes are an issue. I'm not hopeful something can be salvaged at the moment.
Bump

LOL. Whoa pal you got me. That entire garbage thread and this is what you picked out?

From the very next page that you didn't bump though:

People like CMC in Ames a lot and would quickly get back on board if steps were taken to revamp the offense, even with only a few tangible results. I think it's entirely up to him how this plays out.

Played out OK!

So, because I think this is offensive and unnecessary for this site and rate it accordingly, you go back and randomly dumb my post from 2 months ago? Seems like the action of a completely rational adult.
People forget how poorly this program was doing until the seat warmed up a bit, and the person occupying it was made aware of that fact.

How do you know the seat warmed?

Like do you actually think you influenced the offense looking better against bad defenses?

Words have consequences. If you don’t like people digging up statements you made and calling you out, you are thin skinned. It’s laughable when you whine about having your statement exposed for what it is. A simple, “I was wrong” and then moving on would be appropriate but we all know that’s not how anonymous ego’s on the internet play out.

Earth to Mr. Frog: his seat was never warm

Thankfully we started calling the 70 yard rushing touchdown plays that we were holding onto all season. Rot avoided.
You mean the young team started to gel as season went on.

And the new OLine coach philosophies started to take hold.

And a red shirt freshmen QB really came around and had better numbers than Purdy did his freshmen year.

Is this what you are trying to say? Cuz if so I agree team had some great plays this year

Honestly this season started out how most have under Campbell. As fans, we have every right to ***** and moan about the poor play in September, against Iowa etc. But at the end of the day, a 7-5 season is quite palatable. I think most would have considered 6-6 a success (I know I would have). The team was young and under severe scrutiny all offseason leading up to the first kick off. The UNI game got weird early and I don't think provided adequate reps or preparation for Iowa/Ohio. All things considered, Campbell gets a pass for the slow start this season. I would like to see the team come out of the gate the same way they tend to finish campaigns under Campbell. Maybe with a more experienced team next season, we see that.

I guess “I’m right - You’re wrong” is just what the internet is, but after a great victory it’s sad to see this thread pop immediately back up.

Early-season-CMC has typically been somewhat disappointing which is offset by late-season-CMC which can be elating.

This is the best positive consistency Cyclone football has ever had, and I’m grateful for it. Even with the early-season issues and occasional mid-late season KU-like games.
