Yeah it's only a live ball if the defense picks it up. The kicking team can't advance if they get it. Once a team kicks it, either a FG attempt or a punt attempt, that team can't get it back if it's the first team to touch.

what is the NCAA rule on that? What if that was a fumble by the kicker? Is Iowa allowed to run that in for a TD after a block recovered behind the line of scrimmage?

Yeah it's a live ball if the defense picks it up. The kicking team can't advance if they get it.

So that can't be a TD for Iowa, correct? Or would it count off the fumble?
