Phillip Bates is back?!?!

Don't shoot the messenger on this. I just got a call from someone with the information I reported. If it turns out to be wrong, I am sorry.

Something to talk about though

I really wonder how this works out with him signing his NLI with Ohio a few weeks ago.

It would be the equivalent of Bo Williams heading back to Florida.

IF true, I would imagine Bates would be sitting this year.

I don't care about all of the "hes a quitter" that will most likely come up if its true. If someone can come in and make an impact somewhere I don't think we can be extremely picky at this point in time.

I think we can - first, he bailed on the team last year right when the team needed him most. Second, if he's not going to be a team player, especially if he's going to continue ******** about how he's not getting a fair chance to be our team's starting QB (when we have two players at the position that are better than him).

But this is all worthless gibberish, because he's not going to be back anyway.

If his leaving was related to his relationship with the Chiz, I can understand wanting to come back. Too bad he got labeled a quitter and got busted on so much.
If he did sit out this year, would it count as his red shirt?

How ironic would it be for him to come back and finally agree to switching positions. My God would I be happy and pissed all at once.

That said, safety or WLB (with about 15 more pounds) would be great for him.

"Labeled" a quitter?!! He was a quitter.

I don't think you actually sign a new NLI if you transfer.

Maybe someone can shed further light on this, but I think that you do. The NLI is the agreement between the school and player, so I believe Bates would have to sign one to take a scholarship from Ohio.

I could be wrong, but that's how I always thought it was done.

Well it turns out that Chizik didn't back up his talk as a high character guy. It is possible that there is a lot of stuff that occured that made Phil not feel wanted. Bates may have wanted to stay at ISU the whole time, but his interaction with Chizik is what led him to quit.

If true...I would say the players would know the real story with him leaving. If it was due to a bad relationship with Chizik, then they get over it fast. If not, it would be a long road back.

I don't want him back.

We don't need him back.

I am over PB ... He needs to move on.

I understand he quit and that really sucks, but knowing what a class act Chizik realy is now, there may be more to it than him just quitting.

Let's just see if it is true that he is coming back first.

He shouldn't have had to sign a LOI in February, because he should already have been enrolled. One eliminates the necessity for the other.

And if he wasn't yet enrolled (for some mysterious reason), getting released from a LOI isn't all the difficult.
