Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

Is a freshman Freeman really going to help in the toughness and rebounding departments come Big 10 season? I admit he is playing well thru 2 games...but again, they have only played teams that would struggle to crack the top 300 so far. I think Iowa just is what they are, no matter who Fran throws out there this year. Reggie Evans ain't walking thru those doors.
Freeman is probably a year away IMO. He needs to put on another 10 pounds I think. He'll be able to contribute this year, but he will get pushed around a lot as well.

I agree we're going to have a lot of that is my worry. Dembele looks to be about only guy that can hold his own in the paint

When I mentioned the freshman big man for Iowa being pretty good, I was thinking of Dembele (?)…I was surprised Iowa had that athletic of a player. Freeman has good footwork and does block out…seems he has to get the ball in the post to score tho. The other fellow has hit several three point shots and has done a nice job on high-low entry passes to Freeman.

Dembele is a good prospect on paper. I think he may have been 4-star based on some recruiting services. Good size, and decent athleticism from what I have seen so far. This may turn out to be a pretty good class by Fran's standards. Prospects like what we think Dembele could be are not Fran's typical bread and butter, so I will wait to pass final judgement until rubber really starts to hit the road here. Despite the ranking, he was very lightly recruited IIRC

iowa is going to get destroyed tonight.

Outside of his time here at ISU.........Greg's teams are rarely as good or as bad as pre season predictions say. I don't think they swamp Iowa because I don' think they are a top 10 team.

Remember #1 North Carolina last year and how everyone was just so excited in November when ISU beat them? That is how I see Creighton almost every year when they are predicted to have a chance at it all and Greg changes his name to John Wooden.

Lol Iowa’s marketing dept

Is that the Harding kid they are high on? He looks like Stifler from American Pie. I think Fran is an exceptional coach. He recruits a roster full of guys you can find at the rec center and he gets them into the tournament most years.

My prediction: Iowa lights it up from 3 and wins tonight against a Creighton team that is gonna take some time to gel (like last year). This win will be the deciding factor in getting the Hawks into the Dance as an 11 seed. Whoever they play in the first round will go all dunk city on them and blow them out. Fran will be extended.
